It might be able to play Wow, but you can get a better system for the money. check out the thread in my signature for suggestions!

Yeah I saw your suggestions earlier. Good advice and I was using it when I was looking at syatems. This one I am considering is only $800. I really like HP also. You couldn't ever get me to consider a Dell. Too many horror stories with those idiots. So on that system, you see anything I should be worried about?

i'll 100% counter you. I've had 2 Dell desktops, both flawless, and I currently have an Axim X50v. My Bluetooth keyboard broke, called them up, 3 days later there was a fresh one @ my door. HP on the other hand was hell. I called them once, spent HOURS on hold / given the royal run-around until one person actually denied they made a product with the given model number....now thats STUPID. Dell FTW!

that said, I see an Acer in your future possibly....not sure

To each his own. I know too many high priced tech support people for a major worldwife company who said never get a Dell. So call it a draw but you say Acer might be worth looking at?

dell is a good company and completecare rules. i dont know about hp warrenty because i never had to use it for my tablet but their online live chat support is pretty crappy. took the guy an hour to find out that he gave me a wrong driver.

TY fopr the advice but I said, too many horror stories on the Dell people so not a chance I'm buying from them. HP probably, possibly an Acer if I can find one with the sepcs I need.
the horror stories of dell are from yester-year i think....in recent memory they have been very good (less the crappy models exploding). do some research on the company ibuypower.com ....not the greatest crap you're gonna find i bet, but i still went through with the order....came out quite happy...

AND THE DEBATE BEGINS.

for a little more, you can get a gateway at bestbuy with a turion, 1GB, 6100.

Nah no debate, just friendly opinions and sicusions. Unless somebody sees something terribly bad about the system I mentioned I think I'll get it. Could someone explain the 1600 MHz bus system. Is that adequate?
the video card is a dog, other then that... doesnt look bad
post #12 of 18
It looks good to me. Everyone says the graphics card is bad, but to run WoW it should be fine. FYI I use an HP zv6000 with the Athlon 64 and a 200M. It runs most games fine, but let me just warn you: it doesn't support OpenGL. I know the drivers and such say it does, but in reality it can't run appliations that require OpenGL. I hope that helps.
thats you own opinion maybe you never had a good graphics card so you dont know how the game is suppose to be. i seen people playing oblivion at 3fps and said it was fine. my friend has a compac with a 200M and it cant even handle cs source
post #14 of 18
3fps? man, i think i would go insane at those sorts of speeds. actually, i think i did go insane at those speeds. i think it was the original civilization... tried to run it in a command prompt setting, where it needed real dos to run, and it was way too slow. but yeah, one good thing is, if you never see the best graphics, you'll never really know what you're missing. i used to run CS at about 30fps, and that was fine. who needs constant 80fps? also, can the monitor even show anything above its max refresh rate? most lcd's are sub-85hz, so doesnt that mean they can only show a maximum possible 85fps?
i need atleast 60fps in css now because i only pub. but when i was playing cal-m you need atleast 75+ or its pretty upsetting. lot of people think 30fps in games its fine and its true. but you would enjoy playing much more if it was faster.

and im not joking about 3 fps. he has a 6600gt and has his graphics turned up on 1280*1024 pretty sad.

and for fps above the refresh rate you can see a difference. like in source if you monitor only have 60hz refresh and you have 100fps in the game it would look run much more smoother than if you only had 60fps

I haven't tried to run anything really graphics intensive like Oblivion. I really only play Guild Wars and a few RTS games like Empire at War. On these games, the 200M (with dedicated graphics) can run at max settings perfectly fine. Judging by the screenshots, WoW is less graphically intensive than Guild Wars, so I say it would be fine for that application, but I haven't ever played that game, so I wouldn't know for sure.

But I am well aware it has its limits and is not the best out there. Like I said, it can't handle OpenGL games. At all. If the game is DirectX based, the 200M will run most games fine, and other games decently. But if the game requires OpenGL, you won't get anything more than 1 fps. Guaranteed.

I forget what I was getting when I tried playing HL2 on my 700m when I only had 512MB of RAM, but I think it was more than 3fps. That was a major waste of time. It took so long ton install, then was just slow. Heh.

Just FYI for everyone. I ran the Windows Vista Upgrade Advisor, and the Xpress 200M with dedicated 128 MB memory can run every part of Windows Vista, including Windows Aero.
