help!! Laptop for sister. Will E1505 35% off deal be back?

***EDIT: PROBLEM SOLVED SEE BELOW

Does anybody know if the 35% off deal for the Inspiron E1505 will ever be back, or if it is gone for good? Dell's "10 days of deals" page is apparently offline and I can't tell if the 35% off deal was part of that (and will therefore be ending today) or if it is separate.

I have been talking to my parents and sister about what laptop to get her for college, but when we finally got around to trying to buy it, the 35% off deal was gone and replaced with a $410 off deal for the E1505. It seems like they were switching back and forth between those two deals for days. Because of the upgrades I want to give her, the $410 off will be about $150-200 more expensive than 35% off.

However, if they were both "10 days of deals" then I guess I run the risk of losing even that deal and having to pay full price for everything! That would not be good. It would also not be good if they replaced it with a newer model, which might have better specs but would be a lot more expensive, and would give us less bang for the buck than the current deals.

Can any of you more savvy customers help me predict what will happen / decide what to do? Should we just swallow it and go with the $410 off, or is there a possibility the 35% deal might be back?

Thanks for your help!!!

Stephen

Well there was a 35% off coupon that was sent out last week that could be used on the e1505 at Dell home. It expires today so maybe if you ask around you can still find someone who hasn't used theirs. Good Luck!

Actually - I found an even better deal. $750 off any inspiron notebook over $2000, excluding XPS. This is even better than the 35% off for my configuration!

However I am having trouble applying it, because I can't seem to use it to replace the existing $400 off deal. Any idea how I can avoid the $400 off deal in order to apply the $750 off coupon?

I had the same problem when I had the 35% off coupon. Just call Dell and make the order online. Give them the coupon code and they'll help you make your order. At the same time you might be able to get a deal if you talk to the sales people. Look at the other thread titled something like "cheapest price from haggling" for some ways people got a better price on their deals.

Yeah - I actually just went into chat and they were able to help me out. But then I realized that the problem was I started with the top-level setup and tried to apply the coupon. So I went and applied it to a souped-up value configuration and avoided the mandatory bloat. So now I have a fantastic setup of top- and mid-level components and 4 year warranty/complete care for $1300 flat. I'll post the specs when I buy it.
