Re-Formatting Help

I got my Dell E1505 yesterday. Today I was trying to reformat. Everything was going fine until I got to the Video driver. Which was the second one I tried to install. After the install it rebooted and I got a CLI.exe error. Now everytime I restart I get this error. I didn't install a moniter driver. Was I supposed to? I got my drivers from the Dell site. I have the ATI X1300 video card. Also which Dvd-Rom driver am I supposed to install. How can I tell who it's made by. Thanks in advance for your help.

I just got my E1505 yesterday also, I'm thinking about reformatting. Got a couple questions for ya... Did you use a XP cd, or use the restore image on the HDD? Does Media direct still work?

Sorry I can't help you...

Ok, I uninstalled the catalyst software from ATI but kept the driver. Everything seems the be ok now. Do I need the catalyst software? I installed the chipset driver first and then the ATI software second and thats when the problems started.

the cli.exe error is because you do not have microsoft .net framework installed. go to windows update and install it, and your problem should be gone.

install the newer drivers from ATI's website. that will fix it.
Same thing happened to me.

Yea, I think you need to have the .NET framework before the ATI Catalyst software will function properly.

Yes, I second that. The .NET framework is needed for the ATI Catalyst to work. Dell does state that in the "Notes" section of the Download page for the ATI driver: "This driver has been packaged without .NET to allow customers quicker downloading. The Dell image already contains .net. Please ensure .NET Framework is installed before installing ATI Control Center. You can get .NET from Microsoft Windows Update or at the Microsoft website here:.."

Which ATI drivers are you using? The one downloaded directly from Dell works for me, but when I go to the ATI website neither the "radeon" or the "notebook" drivers work for me. Any ideas?

I have an x1300 by the way....
