Have ANY m3450's shipped?

The press release said the m3450 would begin shipping on July 10. I ordered mine June 29, with an estimated ship date of July 11. I have received 3 emails from AW telling me of backordered parts (screen, RAM, and hard disk), but I have YET to hear when my order will ship. I have been on Phase 5 since Friday, after being stuck on Phase 3 for three weeks. The thing that really torques me off is the fact that American Express wants to get paid for the notebook I ordered, but don't have and don't know when I will.

AAARRRRRRGGGGHHHHH!!!!!!!

I paid mine straight up all at once. But I didn't get the Sentia...I had it on order, but then cancelled right away.

Went with the M5500

I ordered mine on 7/16 and shipped today 7/26

I'm typing on mine right now. It came 15 minutes ago via Fed Ex. Very nice so far. I really like how the alien head and the Alienware name lights up. Neat touch.

I'll post some pictures and a review later on.

Uhh..I would call Alienware and ask to speak to the sales manager if someone else got the SAME laptop with the SAME config before you did, especially if you ordered a week before him/her. Funny thing is, the website says both the m5550 and M5750 are shipping WITHOUT ANY DELAYS if you get the parts that don't have that "MAY DELAY YOUR ORDER" warning yet the people who ordered earlier are getting screwed over.. I do feel your pain though, I've been stuck on phase 3 for a week because they messed up on billing..just when I thought it was figured out, there's something wrong with the parts...

Mine actually shipped today, 29 days after placing the order...I have a Fedex tracking number! WOOT! baxt3r's config was nearly identical to mine, except I opted for the 100GB 7200rpm drive over the 5400rpm 120, and he added a couple of software packages that I skipped. As I posted, I received 3 emails from AW telling me of backordered parts, but no ETA on those parts. When I did call to check my status, the dude just said my parts were on backorder (screen, RAM and hard disk), they had no idea when they'd be getting them in and I'd just have to wait it out. Not a good answer when they've already charged my Amex card. Anyway, as long as the Fedex truck doesn't crash and burn on I-75N on its way to Michigan, I should have it in my hot little hands by 8/3. Here's hoping you get yours soon!

Looks like ol' bax has gone MIA...probably holed up somewhere with his new baby. I'll post pics and a review when I get mine this week, I promise! Keep in mind I am a sofware developer and will not be doing any gaming on my 3450, so don't expect any feedback on the graphics. But I will tell you how well it runs 4 or 5 instances of Visual Studio 2005 Team System!

At 3:18, a FedEx truck pulls up in front of my house. What could they possibly want?

The driver hands me a package and drives away, leaving me bewildered. What's in the box?...

At least it was safe from theft! Thank God for anti-theft satellite tracking!

Stay tuned...

jth,

Where are you located? I am in White Lake, would LOVE to meet with ya one day and see this work of art in person, have wanted an AW for a long time now and once these 3450's came out I got the flame even moreso to order one.

I just haven't actually SEEN an AW laptop in person ever much less this newest 3450, curious about all the reports of weird touchpads/spongy keyboards and of course am dying to see the workmanship the glowing logo and alienhead in person.

If we meet up oneday locally, lunch is on me!

Bill

(saw the tracking info was routed out of the sterling heights hub for delivery so we must be somewhat close within an hour or so of each other)

Best part about jth getting his 3450
is that it is finally there to mess with it

Worst part about jth getting his 3450
he has a meeting right after getting it so can't mess with it right away

(and cuz it isn't my 3450 hehe)

Seriously tho hope its all you, I and everyone here hopes for speed looks performance wise and hope to see some pics and reviews from ya once you have time to go over it all.

jth, did you order a backpack or aw carry case of anykind or take advantage of that mobility bundle deal?

I haven't pushed the button just yet (holding back with one hand as the other tries to push) hoping I can meet up with jth to see his someday soon, and wanting to read a review or two also, but here is the configuration I am in the works of ordering.

3450 of course

Processor: Intel® Core™ Duo Processor T2400 1.86GHz 2MB Cache 667MHz FSB
Operating System (Office software not included): Genuine Microsoft® Windows® XP Media Center Edition 2005 with Service Pack 2

If they drop the price to $200 off vs $100 off for back to school or something I don't think I can hold out any longer and will have to just order this up!

BTW I am not into gaming (most I do is flight simulator or rollercoaster tycoon) but I do multitask with many things open at once and use photoshop, webdesign software etc, so hoping this duo processor will help with all that and be strong enough with the config I mentioned above to keep me smiling.

I think I am as excited or more than bax or jth about the 3450 and I haven't even placed my order for one yet!

If you're that hot to place an order, I'd just go ahead and do it. My order took a little over 34 days to arrive, so you should have plenty of time to cancel if you decide you don't want it after reading a review or two. I had thought about getting the AW backpack (I dig that little alien head on the flap!), but my other developer buddies all swear by Ogio, so I ordered one of these bad boys http://www.ogio.com/product.php?product=128

Can someone that has one measure the thickness of the laptop closed. The website says it is .75" , but that doesn't sond right.
