Hi there
I was wondering if you guys could answer 3 questions about your experience with this laptop. I would very much appreciate your answer

1. How is the battery life?

2. How is the external heat (ie: Do you feel any uncomfortable heat on the surface of the laptop?)

3. Overall opinion with owning this laptop thus far

If you guys could give give any answers to these I would be so thankful
Thank you

with the 9 cell there is over 5 hours with minimal use.

the heat in my opinion is just as bad as any other laptop in its category. I think it actually cools better than my 1210, but my 1210 is much more powerful.

My girlfriend just got it two days ago and haven't had a lot of time to mess around with it, but overall, I am pleased with it... for the price. It was less than 1000 dollars equipped pretty well.

If I were in the 14.1 inch laptop market I would probably have to go with the latitude D620 because I don't really like the plastic on the inspirons and the build quality on the latitudes (from what I have come across with) are also a little bit better. There latitude also is a thinner than the inspiron.

So if your budget isn't too limited, the latitude D620 would be great, but the inspiron E1405 is definitely a good bargain for any price range.

hope that helps!

The battery life is great on mine. I have the 9 cell, and I get roughly 6+ hours. The heat is almost nonexistant IMO. I am used to my old POS HP hotplate, so any heat present doesn't even register any more. I am extremely impressed with the performance and quality of this laptop.

The heat is just as bad as any other comp in the catagory?
I have a literal hot plate on my hand right now using the Toshiba Satellite M50/M55. It gets quite uncomfortable. From all the reviews i have been reading, im really leaning toward the E1405/640M because its right around my budget and its has good specs. Does anyone else have any comments to my questions? I would really appreciate as many people as possible who can give their reviews
Thanks

It runs cool compared to my old Acer 3003Lci, and it's a quiet machine. It can get hot, but that's with unproper ventilation. I can get more than 3 hrs of battery with the 6-cell. It's a great laptop if you are on a budget, because the build quality isn't in the "very good" range. It's OK, but the latches IMO are pretty poorly designed. But if you can overlook some faults, this is a great laptop. Be sure to use the coupons!
