T60 Hibernation/ Sleep Freeze

hi, i have had my T60 for about 2 weeks and i love it but everyonce in a while when it returns from sleep or hibernation, the computer will just sit there w/ a black screen and does nothing... im not sure what is going on. this happens after the"returning from hibernation" bar completes. i've tried hititng enter and even swiping my finger to see if the display isn't turning on but no luck.. it's kinda anoying to have to restart it and loose anything i was working on. when it should just come back right up.
thx

I don't have a T60 in front of me, but most IBM thinkpads that I've worked on have a setting in the bios to "suspend, or no suspend" when at low battery, or when the LCD is closed. Set those options not to suspend.

Also, disable hibernation in the windows control panel, power options.

Otherwise, I think to bring it out of sleep mode, press the Fn button and one of the F keys (with the moon on it).

We have exactly the same problem. How do you wake it up? Trish

lol that was 2 years ago.. and about 20 formats and 10 different OS's ago.. im currently on vista and have not had any problems with it.. i dont remember if i fixed it because a few months after that post i switched to linux for about 8 months then went to xp for a week or so then got ahold of vista.. then server 2008 then back to vista ultimate

Put vista on it if you can, it runs beautifully if you have over 1.5gb's ram (i currently have 2.5 and it's pretty fast)

I think it's due to the settings, you prob have settings to turn off hard disk after x minutes.
In Control Panel, select ThinkPad Configuration, and click on the Power Management (in right hand side), you will see some select menus such as "Turn off monitor", "Turn off hard disks" and "System standby". Set "Never" for "Turn off hard disks", rest you can set for what you need.
And also in that "Power Option Properties" window, Advanced tab, in the "Power buttons" section, you can set what you want the OS do when you close the lid (monitor), suggest to put Stand by, it can save lots power.
