Nice machine. Should be quite the screamer. Hope you'll do a review with pics when you get it.

Only problem I'm having is I'm not too familiar with HyperSonic... I've never bought a laptop before, I always just build my desktops and overclock em like mad. Any opinions on them from anyone?

Like I said, should be quite the screamer. My complaints, the smeckley 86 key keyboard, I very much prefer the full sized 102 keys; the relatively small display and lastly, why not wait just a few months (assuming you don't need something right now) and avoid being utterly obsolesced by the wide range of new tech coming down the pipe, this does have 64-bit but its still PCI, AGP etc. That's going to change in 4 to 8 months. Of course, if you are hot to trot right now, then this is a good choice. At least its got 64-bit capability.

I'd rather have the larger keyboard too, but I can do without it. Worst case I get an external keyboard for when I'm stationary. The screen is fine, when I need the larger size, I can always hook it up to a monitor.

As for the new tech, it will be coming out in 4 to 8 months... then you have to wait for actual machines to be designed for them and ready to come out, and then wait for them to not be insanely priced, and then wait for it to be configured... That could take a year and a half, heh. Right now, I need something that I can take to school with me and something that I can take to LAN parties since my desktop PC is too large to move (I got phase change cooling and water-cooling on it). Other than that, it'll be used for IRC and AIM while I'm on my desktop at home. My current laptop is a 1.1Ghz celeron with 128MB memory and integrated graphics. It struggles to run AIM and IRC together, let alone play a game, heh.

Heh, no, not twice the speed, but there is a speed increase because of it. Just do a search for some reviews on the Athlon 64 and you should be able to find some information on how it works and such. There was a good article when the A64 first came out that fully explained the difference but I don't have the link anymore.

thanks for this thread! once again, i am comfortable with keeping my 8890! i didn't think about the timeline that it would take for 64-bit systems to become affordable for me! (2 years, which is what i want my notebook to last at least)
