Don't know of a fix, but can you just play all your games in the native resolution? With an 8890 I'm assuming you have at least the 9600 Pro 128M - which should be plenty to play games in 1280x1024. Just a thought...

This effect was noticed just after the 8890 was released. I had several email discussions with Sager about it. The effect is due to a conflict on the control port which handles the LCD backlight. On exit the game fiddles with the port and stuffs up the voltage level which causes the backlight to flicker (related to screen brightness F9/F10 buttons).

Sager did not have it as a high priority fix so nothing was done about it. Maybe it might be time to bring it up again with them. If enough people ask Sager about it, something might get tone this time around.

Restarts are the only way I know how to correct the problem right now or run the game in native res (if you can).

Hmm, if I understand your comments correctly (sorry, but english isn't my native language...) there isn't any software based patch available for this issue so far and it seems that Sager is not paying much attention to this one. - What's about Clevo themselves here, do they know about this issue for their D800P series, or do they maybe offer some sort of fix?

I have not pursued this because it does not bother me too much. The best way is to email Sager and ask them.

Well, I'am not a Sager customer at all and where I stay you get instead rebranded (differently labeled and assembled...) Clevo barebones. Maybe I should add, that I'am still waiting for my ordered D800P to arrive. BTW, in germany it's not the easy way to get a D800P at all, since most resellers only offer the cheaper D5x0P (mostly the D510P model) series and you really have difficulties to get a D800P (Sager 8890, the one with the 16" UXGA Display) here at all.

However, I've asked after the screen flicker problem fix, in order to be prepared if my Notebook finally arrives. But may be I better ask the domestic Clevo resellers or Clevo Taiwan itself directly for this.
