HP Accidental Damage Warranty and Costco

Was thinking about ordering a dv8000t from Costco but I noticed they do not give you the option to purchase the accidental damage warranty that is on hp's site.

Is there no option for this on Costco? If so, will reconsider if I will get this type of warranty or not. Thanks.

Same situation. Mine shipped from Costco two days ago. I did not buy the warranty through Costco b/c I wanted the 3 year accidental with it. Called HP and they said I can buy it through them. So when it shows up I'll either buy it from the HP site, or call them directly. No problem there...

That is great to know. It is funny that on the business side when I was considering the nx9420 from buy.com, the Hp people told me I could not buy an onsite warranty through them if I bought it somehwere else. Maybe the consumer line is different or maybe the person did not know what they were talking about. Thanks.

The warranties for these systems are not onsite, they are express repair. Hopefully it is quick whatever it is. It almost caused us to get another system because my wife really wanted in home.

The EW warranties are cash cows for HP... They will sell you an EW after the sale.

BTW: At the time I purchased a unit thru Costco there was NO option for any kind of insurance.

I see my calls to the executive offices,/e-mails about offering insurance did not totally go unanswered.

Don't know if you can. Call HP directly and ask them. If you just got it from Costco, maybe you can return the warranty (b/c the 6 month return policy) and just buy the new warranty from HP directly.

HP Rep told me you could buy the Accidental warranty after purchasing somewhere else but after you have the warranty 21 day, no refund on it evern if you return the computer within the 6 month time frame of Costco.

That's why you buy it on the 181st day of ownership.

Great point. Don't mean to get off topic but right now about the only thing keeping from buying this machine is the dreaded keyboard problem. I almost recall that there were keyboard problems with my old Presario x1000 but with a Bios update those were fixed and it is still one of the most well built machines I have had. May have to pull the trigger soon. Thanks.
