Did some digging tonight on how to get Quake 4 to run better than the horrible 1-3fps (@ 640x480 lowest detail setting) I was getting after installing it on my new Presario V2658US (XP Pro), and looks like its simply ATI's lackluster OpenGL drivers to blame for starters (much googled issue).

I upgraded to ATI's Catalyst 6.4 driver/control panel package, and I got immediate improvement with Quake 4 set to lowest quality @ 640x480. The Catalyst 6.4 version is not the latest, but it DOES list support for the mobile 200M gpu, unlike the latest 6.5 and 6.6 versions. At least I can actually "play" Quake 4 now, even though detail is low. I really only want the game to run smoothly at the best framerate. My main driver is now listed as: 8.241.0.0 (3-21-06)

Anybody have better luck with any of the drivers found on OmegaDrivers.net for Quake 4 or other OpenGL games?

Please list your compatible OpenGL game(s) + driver/control panel version + smoothest video quality settings

Thanks
