5672 Pioneer Drive keeps ejecting

The drive keeps ejecting a few seconds after I insert a disc. I suspect it's hardware related since it does it even before windows loads. I'm going to try to clean the lens tomorrow and check the cables. Another other possible causes? Thanks

always hard to tell, could be firmware, didn't apply any "suppose" firmware upgrades... and your have virus scanner right? as i remember back in the day alotta trojan programs could be set up as a prank for the drive to continously eject... maybe go under hardware profiles and uninstall the drivers and delete the cd drive, then reboot and let it autodetect and load it, another thing you might go under msconfig load startup DISABLE ALL, reboot and try it, just to make sure some software isn't loading that is conflicting...you never know, i just like to always blame software first, and hardware as a last result, if not, home you are still covered by your warranty, although it's gonna suck to send it in.

THanks for the response. Yeah, tried everything, even rolling back XP to day one. What is the firmware thing you're talking about? Couldn't find any firmware let alone outside drivers for the Pioneer K06. I've only had the Acer for a week from CompUsa. I'll take it back tomorrow. Thanks
