Worth it?

I tried them on my Asus and they didn't work very well. With the battery on the back it kept tipping backwards, so I took them off. I know someone with an XPS170 who is using them and they seem to be fine. If you want to check them out make sure the bottom of you laptop is flat near the back edge. Make sure it's not going to cover a panel or any vents.

Any thoughts on the Targus Podium Cooler for a 17 inch widescreen HP? I know it comes with a bar attachment for widescreens, just not sure how stable it is or how well it works.

I have used this little folding Targus aluminum thing. It adjusts (then has screws that keep the adjustment set so you don't have to reset it every time you fold and open it). It works pretty well, no tipping issues, but because it comes out like an aluminum framed X shape, it wouldn't work on an uneven surface like your lap. On a table or stand it goes fine and to me, it gives a bit more room underneath for airflow which is nice. It folds to small flashlight size and weighs a few ounces.

Liked it. Podium might be better if this is for lap use. That'd be the one for my lap I'd pick. Table, I use the alum thingy, or a lapcool 2.

Going to put the computer on a mini, cushioned lap desk (i.e., a nice cutting board). Was thinking about the mobile x stand too. I just wan't sure how stable the targus podium is with the bar for a 17 inch computer, or how much higher it raises it.
