I have buy an second hand aspire 1403lc.
This laptop don't have wifi card installed, is an optional.
I decide to buy an gigabyte minipci card with atheros chipset and put it in the minipci slot near the ram expasion slot.
Start win xp, the card is detected, install driver and utility.
Try to find an wifi network and I read in the status of gigabyte utility:
Radio status: Hardware disableb. The wifi button is in on position, I try to press the fn button plus wifi button but without success.
For test the driver I use a pcmcia wificard with the same chipset, it works fine.
Also I test the minipci card in a compaq laptop and works.
The question is:
There is a bios/hardware lock in aspire 1403lc?
Near the minipci pin 124 there is a jump j5 and j6, maybe this jumper enable the wifi.I have the j6 soldered
Some one have buy 1403lc with wifi option and can look this jumper and tell me which jumper are soldered?
Sorry for my bad english.
