Buy Microsoft Office from Dell?

Thread Starter
I'm buying an E1505 for a friend of mine. They want Microsoft Office.

If I buy Office with the laptop will the software come with reinstall CDs?

I obviously will perform a fresh install of Windows. I don't want to buy Office if I'll just wipe it out and not have the reinstall CDs to put it back on the machine.

Does anyone know if Office comes with the CDs?

I think to differ. Given the fact that the price you pay for (FREE!), I think it's awesome program. Once you get used to it's menus and it's functionality, you'll be happy that you didn't spent $400 upgrade on program that you can get for fee.

Do you have any "friends" that have office?

With a Universal MSDN Subscription, all the Microsoft programs are free!

YESSIR, that pile of crap sucks up system resources in addition to lacking some proprietary neatness that MS offers.

How much does that subscription cost? And what are the requirements (if ny) for qualifying for that subscription? The only thing I could find was info about Premier subscriptions (along with others) and they all cost hundreds to thousands of $$$.

JEEV

Yep. The only thing they put on those retarded system partitions is the operating system. I have a hilarious story of my own where I put Fedora Core 5 on my Inspiron 6000 and managed to screw things up to the point I had to ask dell for the physical CD. (I couldnt find a media center 2005 media disk ANYWHERE). They sent them to me, and I think ...? they were free.. no invoice in the pouch, but a $50 price tag in my account online? they'll never see that though. what's funny is that even if it did wind up on some bill, they go to my boss because I stuck him on my dell account way back when fookin management nub. and no one will notice another $50 on an outstanding 8 grand balance

3rd party apps (of which office is) and drivers come on media

I have the Action Pack subscription which allows me to use nearly everything MS offers. I have 5 computers throughout the house and most of the software has 10 licenses so it more than cover me.

Thousands! I think it's somewhere between $2500 and $5000 a year. Good thing my company foots the bill!

That's why it's free. I would only get REAL MS Office if I needed it for some serious schoolwork or something

I'm just starting college, so my opinion will be tendentious given my current academic obligations.
