yet my 3DMarks (05) are only in the low/mid 7000s

and the performance in wow was completely acceptable, but not quiet what i was expecting 20-45fps everything on, also the benchies Alienware said it got befor shiping was 9697...

Is one of your video cards disable or are you running it on battery?

on AC power, made sure it is set to Always on, and SLI is enabled, i tried disableing it, and i did notice fps drops in 3D marks also :/

though it seems it would then be scoreing lower than again 1 card would be expected to, but i didnt let it go through the tests to see the final sore

Did you have a 3dmark score that AW provided. I had a shortcut on my desktop as well as a printed off score saying what the machine scored at the factory...

Sometimes windows update can cause issues... Glad you got it figured out.

Where would I find my official score from Alienware. Benchmarking I mean.

I see under "My Alienware PC Info" that they did an official test of my system. I want to see my score.

Great score, however I think the m9700 is capable of much more than that. Look at my score below. I almost broke 10,000 with stock settings and the cards not optimized for 3dmark. I'm still using the athlon drivers and have not updated my nvidia drivers either. Do I dare try to break 10k???

still a great score, but you gotta remember, you have the single GPU configuration you're not gonna quite get to the near 100 scores like those of us who ordered the sli version

Have you run the benchmark yourself? Get the latest cpu driver from AMD if you haven't already, download the free version of 3dMark05, reboot the system and run it at standard settings and see what you get.

Each run you'll get slight variations in scores, but most people I'm seeing are getting about 9500-9600 out of the box. 9300 isn't far from that, but several things could have affected the score run from environmental, to software, to resources and hardware related issues.

I'm sure AW has a minimum score that passes, so your score must have been in the acceptable range for them to ship it out.

I've seen a couple people that were in the 7700 range, they used their respawn image, and suddenly they were seeing 9600+... go figure...

Yes, I have run 3dmark05 myself and the scores I get range from the high 9300's to the 9000 range. I have the updated driver for my cpu...I dunno what else I could do? I really want to avoid using the respawn/recovery disk though. I've never used it before even on my desktop, I know it's supposed to be user friendly...but I dunno...

So, I'm getting about 6500 on 3dMark05 with dual 9700s (SLI enabled). This is obviously a bit lower than I expected given what I've read here. I've tried all of the suggestions I've read (changing image settings, power settings, etc.) and have seen only slight fluctuations in the score. Unfortunately I didn't opt for the respawn disc when I bought the computer so that isn't exactly an option. Any suggestions?
Luckily, games seem to be running fantastic so I'm not exactly complaining...this thing is leaps and bounds better than my old machine
