Painting my E1705

I just got my Dell E1705. So far its been great but the silver and white colors on it just dont work. It reminds me somewhat of a mac which I really dont like. I'm going to be painting this thing soon. I have already taken the enitre computer apart to see if it was even possible to paint without causing any problems. So, which paint besides Krylon Fusion should I use and what colors do you guys suggesst. I'm thinking Gloss Black but I'm open to other colors. I would also like to see some painted E1705's if there are any.

Thanks- Christiaan

To each his own. I don't mind the color. It is the same as my previous 9300. I also have taken mine apart. I won't be painting it though.
Good luck with your project.

Good luck with the project I wouldn't suggest rattle canning it though if your going to paint airbrush it or take it to a auto body shop and have them spray it for you. Also get a few clearcoats on it 2~3 so that you don't screw your paint up right away.

Thats a good idea. Hope it turns out well, and be sure to post some pics of the finished product.

Well im about to buy the paint and I'm either going with a nice metallic blue like for alienwares or gloss black. I wanted green but it may look kinda funny.

Most people use automotive paints

1. Rough up the plastic with some sandpaper I use 300grit.

2. Spray on a thin coat of primer.

3. Cure (24 hours at room temp or 4 hours in a 150° oven)

4. Sand with 600grit sandpaper

5. Spray on another coat of primer

6. Cure

7. Sand with 1000 grit sandpaper

8. spray on your first coat of paint

9. Cure

10. coat 2

11. cure

12. coat 3

13. cure

14. clear coat #1

15. cure

16. polish with rubbing compound or 1500+ grit sandpaper

17. clear coat #2

18. cure

19. polish with rubbing compound

20. Wax, i like turtlewax nano

There 20 easy steps to a glossy, chip resistant custom color notebook.
