Ordered a XPS? What's your status?? - Page 6

Phucking Dell. Some bozo there put my order through wrong and it got stuck in some kind of limbo. Now they redo it with an order date of today (originally it was ordered on the 22nd). Thankfully, I've been on them like stink on schit as to why mine was not progressing from pre-production and somebody realized the mistake. ( to the guy that found it). Now I'm stuck waiting for even longer for my new toy. Probably won't get it until the end of Smarch. Lousy Smarch weather!

Well, here's for a good screen:

Once your laptop hits "boxing", it sometimes stays there and never moves (even when it shows up at your door, it'll show on their order status as "boxing").

Don't assume anything. You *COULD* have it by the weekend even with 2 day shipping (depending on your proximity to wherever they ship it from).

I know in the PAST it has always been a build in Malaysia, then fly to Tennessee, then ship from there. Since this is a new model, who knows. It may very well be built here in the USofA, and could have shipped the day it said "Boxing" on their order status.

You'll know friday night for sure

From this 8600 picture you can see the "Made in China" sticker. Could just be refering to the chassis I suppose.

could refer to the part itself... who knows (except dell).

Hmmm...well, although I want the dang thing as soon as possible, this may not be good either...they make you sign for the package at the door, and without an online tracking number, how in the heck do I know to stay home and wait for it? Also, I don't think UPS lets you go to their local distro centers to pick up packages you miss like FedEx does, so if I miss them on Friday, I'll have to wait until Monday anyways...arggh!

Anyhow, I'll be out of town until Friday evening (6:30 or so) which is precisely when the UPS guy shows up usually...maybe I can beat him home...

Have a good couple of days everybody, and I'll yak at you Friday...hopefully from my new XPS!

UPS *WILL* let you pick up an air package after 8:30PM, but you have to request it.

You have to request it when you call 800-pick-ups (little known option, and not generally offered, you have to actually ask). The UPS pickup policy varies by facility though, some will allow you to pick up overnight packages only after 8:30PM (the facility re-opens after their 6pm closing time), others will allow you to pick up 2nd day as well (depending on how large the facility is and how many people will show up to pick up their items). At my Secaucus NJ local office, it's Overnight-Pickups only after 8:30pm, 2nd day has to wait for next business day... but down the road in Parsippany, they allow both since it's a smaller hub. Unlike Fedex, the fact that they make you jump through hoops is enough to keep me from using UPS whenever possible.

UPS. "Useless Parcel Service".

Wow, nice... When'd you hit boxing?

And which carrier is handling it? UPS, Airborne or Fedex?

Boxing Phase

I orderd on the 26th, hit boxing last night. But on their website, it doesn't tell me anything else other than "Boxing". It still has a shiping prep and estimated ship date of the 18th, however. I can't imagine how it would take 2 weeks to box it up and get to my door...

I just called that number. It has speech recognition. I always feel like such a dork just blabbling out loud to nobody. Okay the machine basically just told me the same thing as the website.

Wow, even if mine gets here on monday that will be almost 2 weeks earlier than predicted. Show me the tracking number.
