Mine is on the build stage...

I got pretty much the default setup w/ 2 years at home and it came to ~2750 after rebate... it's too bad I ordered when I did, because the following week they changed the 'mail in rebate' to instant rebate... but oh well... I just hope I actually get the laptop this week... it's been a long enough wait as is (and it was just my birthday last weekend)... I deserve it for a present! =)

Mine came to $3275 after tax and a 15% small business discount. I thought about switch to a 9100 to save a few hundred bucks, but I've been playing this game since the first of the year and just want my laptop now.

"It was a very fine machine that had a native 1600 pixel wide display that allowed you to work with two full-size pages open. However, the Achilles' heel of the machine was the LCD response rate." If that test Sager/Clevo/Powernotebooks display had a native res 1600 pixels wide, the it isn;t the same display as used in tht 8790, which is 1440 wide native. So, that display sucking doesn't necessarily mean the 8790's will.

To save yourself a little time, if you hit "reply" on the note that you want to write a quote regarding instead of "post reply" at the bottom. You can then cut out the parts you don't want. Hope that helps

I placed my order on 02/24 just three days after yours so I hope my status changes soon. I am still sitting "InProduction" but all the sub-items are still grayed out .

PLEASE take pictures with a digital camera of the beast when you get it! I'm sure we'd all love to see what it looks like in a higher resolution than the puny 200 x 300 graphic on the Dell site.

I think things slow down in the "boxing" phase sometimes--mine is still in testing this morning.

You definately don't want to see leave the "testing" phase real quick

Cmon now--no whammies. It went into testing last night so I am sure someone was up all night doing a little burn in, polishing the legs, turning it off and on etc.....

I don't think mine was in testing much longer. I came back from vacation on Sunday and it was in a build status, by yesterday afternoon is was boxing. I would really rather them not waste a great deal of time testing, I'm quite capable of that and will be a little more thorough. I would only hope they look at the screen, test the power, HD, DVD/CD, and memory. I figure if they hook it up to Sisoft (or something similar) and do the system test, and check the screen that'd be fine with me. I found out from reading the article in CGW that you can have them do a default OS install, with only OS and Drivers (everything else on CD), I wish I had known that a couple weeks ago, it would have saved me the time of doing a reinstall.

Mine went through testing in about 4 or so hours...

Do they usually sit in the boxing stage for a while? I'm really hoping to get my laptop by this weekend so I can get testing and benchmarking and reformatting and all that stuff out of the way... and I plan on LANning a bit with my friends since I'll have quite the nice computer by then...
