Sound stutter when changing resolutions

I don't know if this is specific to dell or core duos or what. but whenever I switch resolutions, whether its alt-tabbing from a game or changing a setting, it's like the whole computer locks for a second and any sound that was playing before the switch keeps repeating itself until the screen comes back. it's not really a big problem but it's minorly annoying...any ideas?

Thats odd. Is it usually when you have a game running? If yes then which game(s) If No then which program(s)?

I'm pretty sure it's independent of any program. when i switch res for any reason the screen turns black while it's switching, which i know is normal, it's just that on every other computer i've used the sound continues uninterrupted during that period. But with this laptop while the screen is black i get the stutter. I've tried both stock drivers from dell's website and xtreme-g, they both do that. it's been like this since i got it.

I know ive heard of this problem before.. Doesnt come to mind at the moment. If the problem is only momentary then you shouldnt be bothered by it.

Low odds of it being the cause but it's easy to check: look at your hardware configuration (system->hardware->device manager) and make sure that there isn't some weird conflict between the sound and video IRQs, for example.
