Acer and quality?

Hi,

I need to buy a new laptop, and it's a toss-up between:

and

http://www.comet.co.uk/comet/html/cache/572_336637.html

The Acer computer is cheaper than the other one... but my friend says that Acer is associated with low-quality...

What do people on here think? Is it worth spending £100 more for the other computer?

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Acer makes great stuff. Spending the extra on the other machine would be silly IMO.

go ACER!!!

i couldn't agree more with Storm...i have used Acer's exclusively for the past few years as my choice in laptops. the only problem i've ever encountered was with one i bought for my mom, an Aspire 1640, and the hinges began cracking about 6 months in to use. fortunately it was under warranty, sent it in and it was repaired and returned in under 10 days.

I have had a travelmate 8104 for a few months now and so far there have been no problems. Even dropped it from about 4ft onto hard wood and there is a total of 0 damage. Not even a single dead pixel!

i owned a 5672 acer, heat was a MAJOR issue, aside from that, i have big hands/fingers/heavy fingers, LOTS of flex in the keyboard, im guessing thats the same way with all of theirs

but aside frmo that i had no problem with mine, traded it for a shuttle system tho cause that heat was unbareable, plus i got cash in the trade that i spent on crap i didnt need im sure

EDIT: also, you need to deicde, do you want a faster proc with less hard drive space, or more hard drive space and lesser clock speed, and if one comes with a dvd burner and such ect ect

Its strange everytime somebody says something like that, they heard it from others.. I myself and a friend have a 5672, and I'm very pleased by it.
Acer is (mainly in europe) one of the top-seller for laptops, sure from time to time you will have a bad one, just like when mercedes or BMW will have somethimes a bad car in the lot (hehe ok maybe not the best comparison but I guess you understand )
