Smart Dudes, Solutions pls, Back Pain from computing - Page 2

I've never used that thing, but I have positioned myself so that my legs are in place of that table thing. It gets extremely painful after two or three minutes. Trust me, your back will hurt even more if you buy that thing.

But on topic, you can probably build something with PVC from Home Depot or Lowes. Just draw out what you want it to look like and go forth and mod.
i agree with no medication for back pain, cause that only numbs the pain it does not help you correct the source of the problem, so it will make things worst. I need to stop stressing my back by sitting less and lying down or standing up (that's tiring) more.

anyways, what's PVC, so you're saying i go buy some wood and build my own contraption right? i thought about that too, but lol seems like a bit of a hassle no? if i can just buy something for $50 that would be heaven haha.... and besides i have no toool! saw... hammer nails, lol i dun want my laptop to be collapsing into my face if my craftsmanship is poor...

PVC pipe is the stuff plumbers use.
One thing I do when I not actually touching the computer, just reading, is to clasp my hands behind the back of the chair. It keeps your back straight and stops that tendency to crouch over the desk. You'll find you breath better in that position too.

There is a reason why it is killing your back, you are supposed to get some excercise you fat ****!

hehe j/k

if you are on for 12-15 hours you should be taking breaks like every 3 to 4 hours. The only really good thing for a bad back is excercising the muscles, and stretching. If you go from doing nothing but sitting in a chair for that long to laying in bed for that long yhou are not going to get better, and if anything you will become worse over time and your back will never strengthen to help with healing. If your back is so messed up that you need to lay instead of sit upright then you have worse problems then worring how to use your laptop. There is not ergonomic way to go about doing it, and trading your back pain for neck problems is not the solution... Any doctor will tell you this =)

hehehe indeed... making 'strong' mental note: get more exercise, get more excercise, get more excercise...

If I am not the fatty calling the fatty fat I dont know who is, I think I have a pretty good mental picture if what everyone probably looks like posting on this forum and it is usually two extremes, either the not enough movement peeps or the really skinny guys who drink 70 red bulls a day pick one or the other its probably one of us eh!

Diy

Why spending ~ $100 ???
Do it yourself

Of course it is not as flexible as expensive thingies. It costs ~ $3

Are you sitting at the computer properly? You'd be surprised how many people don't have correct posture at the keyboard.

Ok thought I would chime in as I have had 4 surgeries in the last 4 years and I have boo koo painkillers but they only ease the pain and don't get rid of it. I cant sit at my desktop for more then 15 minutes at a time that is why I have a M 1710. I took some thin wood made a designe I kinda copied from a drawing board thingy from a magazine and cut the plastic hinges of a targus cooling pad so if folds in half so when I do go places it is eaiser to bring with me and had my girlfriend paded the bottom of it for me. It works great as when my back, hip & knee won't allow me to sit at my desktop in my office. I throw a few pillows up against the wall take a pain pill and on my lap it goes it is the perfect size as it is custom built to fit my MX 1000 mouse on one side and my n52 Gamepad on the other and with my legs straight out releives the pain on my hip & back and with the laptop legs on my M1710 it puts it on a perfect angle.

Cronic pain sucks tho! Hit and run drivers even suck more!!!!
