Reformat via USB hard drive

Alright, I've got a Dell latitude D410 which contains no internal CD drive. I'm looking to use my iPOD as a USB drive so I can reformat the computer as if it had a CD drive and the computer was booting from the Windows CD which give you the option of formatting the drive prior to installation of the OS. The motherboard is bootable from USB, so thats not the problem. I just need to know how to get the iPod preped for the boot. Is it as simple as a quick format of the iPod in windows then copying the Windows CD onto it? I feel like theres gotta b more to it.... any input is much appreciated.

Thanks,
Josh

The DL link for the HP utility in that article is outdated. Here is a working link:

in all the online tutorials the program looks differnt, which steps should i choose using the upgraded utility?

Choose which task you'd like to perform:

1) create new or replace exsisting configuration
2) Add configuration on existing key
3) Backup/Restore

im thinking step 1

if u choose step one it then asks u to choose the role you wish the key to serve hard drive or floppy disk.

also since im using a 20gb ipod, will this not work? b/c i managed to download the old utility which was in all the screenshots of the online tutorials but that utility said that the partition was too large or something like that

Alright, I used the older version of the application and im now using an ipod nano as the drive

in the bios i set it for the usb to boot first, now the ipod nano is acting as the C drive. when you run the dir command you can see all the files i put onto the nano (i copied all the files from the windows xp CD onto the nano). now my problem is, I'm unable to start the windows xp setup installation as one would do if you choose to boot froma CD and u were using the CD to reformat the computer. when i try and run setup.exe it says this program cannot be run in DOS mode.

I'm so close...I just need to know how I'll b able to start that windows set up.
