quick answer needs quick response! plz!

i wanna close the lid of my turned dell notebook, disconnected it from power adapter, put it in my bag and walk with it to my friend(15mins walk).. could it damage my laptop? would it be a better idea to walk around with it while it's turned off?

I've thrown my dell down several flights of stairs, tossed it out an airplane window, and took it scuba diving in the bahamas. I think you're good to go.

someone said "let's celebrate your laptop arrival and throw it out the balcony" thought he was joking. thanks guys.. my laptop will be downstairs before me. haha :P

but wait wait. i don't think u answered my question. i know u can carry it and even drop it sometimes. but will it do any worse if it's on while u drop it?

There is a higher possiblity for damage if the notebook is on. However, the problem I see with it would be the heat problem. You are going to be holding all the heat generated by the system right next to it, and I would worry about overheating. MAybe supend to disk or hibernate would be a better option if you don't want to shut down completely.

in most cases laptop automatically stand-by on lid-close.....so beh...you'll be fine.
