512MB Nvidia GeForce Go 7900 GS for 9700---when?

I've seen some of you guys mention the 512MB Nvidia GeForce Go 7900 GS as a future option for the 9700, but does anyone have an eta for when they will be available?

no clue raytonium, chances are, owners who order the m9700 now, will be able to upgrade later with duo 512mb cards......you'll just have to send it back to AW then pay the extra $ to upgrade.....personally I think at the moment, the duo 256GeForce Go 7900 are amazing as it is ! Apparently they can handle preety much anything I'm planning on ordering my machine tonight

Cheers !

Barring any problems it should be available in the next couple weeks. I put my order on hold for the 512 cards, and I was told the validation could be complete this week, or early next.

Don't know if they'll have inventory immediately though.

I put a hold on my order as I'm willing to pay a bit more for the cards now for the extra memory, but I don't think it's worth buying complete new cards just for the additional 256m memory. That would be a lot of money for little benefit.

This way it only costs me a hundred or two when buying new cards would be closer to a grand.

I would definitely wait and have them in the initial order, instead of upgrading later. So, maybe a couple of weeks for them to be available, then a couple of weeks for build and ship. At least a month.

I just heard from my AW rep, and he's conveyed that there is no solid ETA yet on the 512's... Guess it's up to you how badly you want the extra memory, and if you're willing to wait.

Jeez....I don't think I can hold out any longer...this is killing me...slowly...

The way I see it, adding that extra memory will probably only prevent it from going obsolete just slightly later (probably a month or two?). Ans since the wait will probably be at least that, you're really just shifting everything a month or two forward.

So, based on my logic you have this:

Buy it now and have it go outdated in x months, or buy it in about 1 month and have it go outdated in x+1 months. The net difference will probably be about the same (plus the added pain of waiting even longer ;-) which I just couldn't bear!)

I could be wrong, but there's at least some truth to this idea.

Raytonium - If you can wait, then wait. I really don't think that you are going to be missing out too terribly much by getting an m9700 with the 256mb cards. Mine is fantastic with teh 256's.

If it were me (since I already have my machine, this is great advice...) - I would go ahead and order as I really don't see too terribly much more of a benefit over the 256mb cards...
