I have a Dell E-1505, and was wondering how to tell if the screen is LG or Samsung... Thanks

Try Powerstrip, see this post http://www.notebookforums.com/thread165050.html

Or do this:
Right-click "My Computer">Properties>Hardware tab>Device manager>Display adapters>open your graphics card properties>Details tab
Scroll to locate 'Bus relations'
If you'll see AUO that's AUO

What's AUO?
AUO is the LCD made by AUO http://www.auo.com/
Some LCD that came with Dell XPS M1210 is Samsung

If you have a wsxga+ screen, you will probably have to use Knoppix.

I got Powerstrip, but I can't figure out what type it is... Under monitor information under provider it just says "Microsoft" and Model ID = Default Monitor... Any ideas?

In Powerstrip settings, you should see this:

Or just do this:
Right-click "My Computer">Properties>Hardware tab>Device manager>Display adapters>open your graphics card properties>Details tab
Scroll to locate 'Bus relations' then post what you'll see there and we will help you identify it.

That's the funny thing, where you ahve that where it says AUO, my model says Default Monitor (Microsoft), and in the bus relations there's nothing but numbers

Another easy method is to add your system (using your service tag) to the "My System and Peripherals" page of the support.dell.com website (you need to have an account set up to do that). Once that step is accomplished, you can simply click on the service tag and it shows an original system configuration. An entry for a Samsung screen looks something like this: DF056 LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY, 15.4WXGA, VIDEO ELEC. STDS. ASSOC., GLARE WIDE VIEWING ANGLE, SAMSUNG

Which one is the best. I have a Samsung but is getting a replacement If the replacement is different should I change using the Samsung?

LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY, 15.4WSXGA+, VIDEO ELEC. STDS. ASSOC., GLARE WIDE VIEWING ANGLE, LENGTH/LONG Is what it says for me... I'm not complaining because I love my screen, it's really nice nice quality. I was just wondering what it was... Guess I'll never know

I'm having the same issue as SacKings384, "default monitor."

At the dell website I get:

XD570 LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY, 15.4WSXGA+, VIDEO ELEC. STDS. ASSOC., GLARE WIDE VIEWING ANGLE, LENGTH/LONG

Which brand does that make it with an XD570? *hunts google*

Edit: This thread says it's a Samsung... I think.

XD570 15.4WSXGA+ is an LG screen. If you boot Knoppix, it will say LGL0000, or something like that.

The LG is a superior screen?
ok, so i'm wondering what my screen is, and i went under bus relations, and this is what it says

DISPLAY\Default_Monitor\5&3268f280&0&10000003&01&00
DISPLAY\Default_Monitor\5&3268f280&0&00000110&01&00
DISPLAY\Default_Monitor\5&3268f280&0&00000200&01&00
DISPLAY\Default_Monitor\5&3268f280&0&00000100&01&00

can anyone explain to me what all that means???

Try to download free Belarc Advisor from http://www.belarc.com/free_download.html
That Belarc advisor can detect/determine what LCD I got.
Also Lavalys Everest Ultimate Edition (not freeware) can detect/determine the monitor
http://www.lavalys.com/products/over...?pid=3&lang=en

See if any of those programs will find out what LCD you have.

Belarc can determine that I have AUO screen:

ATI Mobility Radeon X1400 [Display adapter]
Default Monitor (4x)

Is what Belarc gives me

None can detect the brand of your screen
Your other option is to ask Dell
