zd8000 vs dv8000

OK, maybe I'm just not looking in the right place or in too much of a rush, but I'm trying to find a comparison of the 2. If anyone knows of where I can find one, please let me know or if anyone has any real world experience they can provide to answer my query, it would be greatly appreciated.

I'm close to the new lappy purchase as mine is approaching the 2 year mark (zd8000) and I'm just wondering about the performance comparisons. I know there's a new model coming in the dv9000 series, so I'll be keeping an eye out for that as well.

FYI ... the one you want is the Intel Core Duo chipped model.. the cpu is faster, and the GPU (GPU=Video card) of the Intel chipped models is as well. You want a "t", not the "z".... Some info to get you going... Keep in mind current shipping dv8000t's coming with the 7600 series GPU, instead of the 7400. Might be some benckmarks in there so you can compare to your current system... You'll have to do the math on that so to speak. Keep in mind the dv8000t can have many model numbers. They are ALL dv8xxxx's, the differance being if it's a T, or Z, the installed GPU. http://www.short-media.com/review.php?r=321 http://forum.notebookreview.com/show....php?p=1318531 http://forum.notebookreview.com/show...dv8000t+review PS: I'm sort of waiting for the dv9000 (T) to be released... Currently I have a dv8000t with the 7400.

PS: Depending on your needs you may want to consider a DELL 1705... as Dell installs GPU's which run rings around the HP's..... Plus this model uses an all magnesium-alloy case on the top and bottom... have DVI output that the HP's currently do NOT have. (dv9000 showing an option on the dv9000(?) for a HDMI port... which is DVI +HDCP=HDMI

HDMI being useful if you want to hook your computer up to a BIG SCREEN TV for example.

What is HDCP? HDMI, DVI? .. Why is it important to me?

Won't buy a Dell laptop. I MUST have the keypad as a lot of my work involves typing lots of numbers and having a separate keypad just isn't the same.

Thank you for pointing me in the right direction though. It's what I'm looking for. And yes, I, too, and waiting on the dv9000 series as well.

Also, I would never get one of the iterations of the dv8xxx as I always do the custom builds from the website. I can't handle pre-configured systems as you get something in the mix that you don't want.

That pesky numeric keypad is a nice feature.

And I've tried to actually LIKE Dell laptops, but I can't bring myself to do so. I looked at the M2010, but I hear all sorts of bad things about it as well. This dude don't gotta get a Dell EVER!
