I have a little dilemma with my xbox 360 live. My router is located in a room without a tv so I cannot play xbox live. I know there is a wifi adapter for the xbox but I was wondering if it was possible to some how use the wifi of my laptop to get a connection to xbox live. perhaps with a cat5 crossover cable or something like that. Any suggestions would greatly be appreciated.

you can use a regular cat5 cable. to do this, go to your wireless connection and enable ICS (internet connection sharing) then plug the xbox into the ethernet of your computer.

thats the short version, and if you dont understand, I can elaborate...

I used this for a while and it was pretty simple. BUT your better off to buy the adapter. Its worth it. You will get an OPEN nat with the adapter and with the ics you will get moderate. This wll tend to cause some problems like echos in the mic, or not being able to talk or even lag.

P.S. just get the adapter used at ebgames, its cheaper and if it doesnt work you have 7 days to return it

Thanks for your reply. If its as simple as what you wrote than I think I should be able to handle it. But if its a little more complicated then could you please elaborate.

You could... I used to use ICS on my 9300 and never had a problem with NAT or lag.

I appreciate your help but I wanted to save money and not have to buy something that I can do for free.

If you would have done the test for live it would have worked althought I can almost guarantee that it would have said moderate.

If you dont want to do that then all I had to do for the xbox to work was go to my network connections, select my wifi adpater, say share internet connection, then connect the xbox with a Lan cable and it all should work once the xbox connect, I think I may have had to go to www.xbox.com/pcsetup and do all that. Either way I recomend to go to that website and do it anyway, it opens ports and stuff for the xbox 360

Spend the 50 cents (figuratively speaking of course) and get a wireless switch from linksys or netgear. If you can afford a 360 and laptops, whats $80 more?
where are u finding those for 50$ the only game adapters that linksys makes are like 100$ unless we are talking bout 2 diff things?

He said it was $80 but used a figure of speach and said spend the 50 cents. Thats not intended as $50. I can see how it confused you though, it confused me to the first time I read it
