HP Return Policy /The nc8430 (EY688AA)

This is a very simple question. It is one that I should have tried to figure out for myself, but after reading the HP terms of use documentation I am unable to determine if there is a return period.

I am looking at the NC8430, and I have been delaying my purchase due to an inability to make a decision.

I have decided that I would gladly order this computer if it means that within a month of use, I can return it for a full refund.

Can any of you help me?
(also, any information or reviews about the nc8430 (EY688AA) would be delightful, not many people have posted about this computer.)

Buy it from Costco.com. Six month return policy plus the same/similar/or better pricing.

21 days.... on HP's site they have info on the details...

I didn't read the document real closely since I bought thru Costco a CTO dv8000t.... mainly due to the 180 day return policy, free shipping, and if it needs to be returned no return shipping costs.

I think on HP's 21-day return window you eat the shipping.... Not sure on the details...

HP does have on their site the terms of the 21-day return window... What you have to do, what is expected and the charges, terms.

I would agree, but I don't think the nc8430 (EY688AA) is offered thru Costco.com To the OP, here's the Costco CTO HP page http://www.costco.com/CTO/HPLanding....topnav=&browse= (CTO=Custom To Order)... for those that don't know... Order it and have it direct from the factory in CHINA in about a week.

Unfortunately, costco does not have the OP's desired computer, the nc8430...

Can I suggest buy.com? Their return policy seems pretty good. I ordered an nc8430 from them for a client. It has two dead pixels in the center of the screen, and I'm debating returning it and trying again...

Yes, ONE post UP from yours that was noted for the record with a link to Costco's CTO page.

If I buy from a vendor other than HP.com, will I still be eligible for the 3 year warrenty that comes with the computer?

If it was me I'd call both the vendor I planned on buying it from and HP directly... as everything said on this board is hearsay. For example I could say, Yes -3 warranty, no problem... and then you find out later that's not the case. On the Consumer lines you can buy the HP insurance direct from HP after the sale, buying from anyone who is a HP dealer. (Costco) For HP the Extended Warranties are "cash-cows"... Who here for example thinks that the display that they are charging you $956 costs them more than probally $100? (Could be off on the wholesale /bulk cost, just trying to make a point) PS: When my laptop was shipped direct from CHINA I noticed the amount of insurance on it was only $500. I'm sure they do this because there is a cut-off point, say anything over $500 being more expensive to insure... But in my mind they do it because they probally have $500 in the whole machine.

This is a dead pixel test program. It allows you to easily test your LCD screen for dead pixels.

Before trying to grasp the meaning of a dead pixel, first you need to understand the technology behind LCD displays. An LCD display is essentially made up of pixels. Each pixel is made up of red, blue and green valves. The valves in each colour either block or pass the light source. By manipulating the amount of light passed through, each pixel displays a distinctive colour on screen. Pixels consisting of these valves are what make up the image that is ultimately displayed on the screen. A typical monitor has millions of pixels. A dead pixel refers to a pixel with a defect in its ability to display the correct colour output. It may look like a tiny black spot on your screen, or any other colour that does not correspond to what the actual image should look like.

A typical 17 inch monitor contains up to 4 million pixels. Even a tiny dust particle on one of the pixels during the manufacturing process can create a dead pixel. Or a slight bump during shipping can break one of the highly sensitive pixels.

If you've scoured every inch of your screen but can't find a single dead pixel, you are in luck. Because of the complexity of the design, it is generally regarded dead pixels appearing in some products are inevitable. If you need to absolutely make sure whether you have purchased a defective display, you can use this program. It simply paints your entire screen with one of the colours that make up a pixel to make the dead pixel more conspicuous to the naked eye. Run through the red, green and blue colours in turn and check for pixels that do not match.
