5760 tv tuner not recognized by windows MCE 2k5?

Hi, as stated in the title, for some weird reason that I can't understand or fix, Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 does not recognize the Tv Tuner that comes with the Sager NP5760. It tells me that the tv tuner hardware is not recognized/installed but the software that comes with the tv tuner works just fine because I can watch tv with the software. Thanks in advance for any insight into this problem.

tv tuner , XP MCE and 5760

I own a 5760 with XP MCE like you, also had the same problem as you. The tuner card works with MCE with the Lifeview software that comes with your computer, but doesn’t work with the enhanced MCE part to make your computer like a tivo ect... You might as well have bought XP Home or Pro.
I contacted sager Tech support , and they confirmed what was going on. I asked if they had a internal Mini Tv Tuner available that was MCE compatible , One that is listed in their sager 5760 user manual… No they don’t have one (Its ODD they put the options of video cards avail on their manual but dont offer them ). I purchased my 5760 threw discountlaptops.com and worked with Matt with my whole ordeal. They said they would add that "If you Buy the tuner card and want MCE that they wont work like you want them too". I don’t know if they changed that on their site or not..
Iv since taken out the tv tuner card and sent it back for a refund. I almost sent the WHOLE laptop back but I was able to find a HP Express TV Tuner card for 179.99 on the HP website that works with the 5760 and the express card slot. Read my posts in this thread on notebookreview and you can see what all went on… has info on the card and drivers as well.. My nick on there is PdxLou Link : http://forum.notebookreview.com/show...light=tv+tuner

Hope this helps.

Wow, thanks for the heads up. I thought it was something funky with my install of MCE but I guess not. But I guess I'll stick with the Lifeview TV tuner as I am moving in and starting college soon, next week in fact, and I don't want to deal with the whole shipping/refund thing. If the problem becomes too aggravating I might decide to do what you did but I doubt it. Thanks again. (This means I am going to have to edit my review for DiscountLaptops on Resellerratings.com)

Does anyone know if this is the case with their current TV Tuners. Has it been resolved in newer revisions? I'm curious because i bought a xVx Monstruo-M (also a Clevo 570u) in part because of the internal TV Tuner.
