I usually plug a usb keyboard to my laptop, but today when i was using the laptop keyboard it gave me problems.

Heres how it looks when i typle letters with it:
abcd3efgh8ijklm9on9o0p1q4rst7uv2wxyz

and numbers
1q2w3e4r567u8i9o0p

arrow keys are also messed up and probably a bunch of other keys as well.

I tried restarting the computer a few times, system restore, adaware and spybot but still no luck. BTW the laptop is a compaq v2310, waranty expires in a few weeks. Anyone know whats wrong with it?

I have a couple of Toshibas that do the same thing, all due to a bad keyboard. One of them I spilled coffee on , so the impact was immediate, while the other was gradual - like yours appears to be. The only solution appears to be a new keyboard, which I refuse to buy since the machines are so old.

However, I did get some temporary relief (for a couple of months I think) on one of these machines by reseating the cable that connects the keyboard to the motherboard. Like I said, it was a Toshiba, but it might be worth a chance if you are handy.

I got Hp to RMA the laptop, luckily my warranty didnt expire yet (in 3weeks) or else they would have charged me $450 Cdn according to their tech support. Fingers crossed for a new laptop
