RAM, Proc, Sound, and "Skin" questions for E1705

Thread Starter
I am planning on purchasing an E1705 - probably this evening - and going with a base of 512MB RAM at 533 MHZ and then purchasing 2GB's of RAM at 667 MHZ somewhere else...So, I have a few questions...

RAM:
Will this RAM work for an E1705?

Proc:
Is there a significant difference between the T2400 (1.83 GHZ) and the T2500 (2GHZ) in performance?

Sound:
What the heck is Sound Blaster Audigy HD Software? Is it worth $20?

Skin:
Do these skins suck? Has anyone seen them in person?

Any help is really appreciated - I am looking for a gaming/multimedia/business machine that is reasonably priced (I'd like to keep it close to $1500).

Thanks!

RAM: Yes
Proc: Not too different
Sound: Yes it is worth it
Skin: Haven't seen them yet

1) Yes
2) Not a noticeable difference
3) Not if you plan to use an external sound card
4) Don't know about "skins", but I have a leather snap-on cover that dramatically changes the look of the laptop (for the better, IMO)

310-6438 Charcoal Leather QuickSnap Cover, for Inspiron 9200, EA 44.95 44.95

http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/p...9&sku=310-6438

Price went up 5 bucks since I ordered mine...must be popular...

That fits perfectly as the lcd covers are exactly the same....and it looks really sweet

I got one of those free skins with my laptop and I have no intention of putting it on. Especially if it is not removable.

How does this quick snap onto the notebook ???

Thanks!

There are grooves on the front and back of the lid. It just snaps on easily enough. It can be removed later if needed. I find it looks good and also adds a little protection as well. Plus, if it gets scuffed, your lid underneath is still in good condition.

Sorry, don't have my pic of it on my site anymore... If remember to do so, I can post it again...

dunno if this'll help:

go to that big auction place and search for item 300004200057

[This stupid forum won't let you post any links whatsoever (not even through a search engine) to that site...]

1) Yes it will be fine but I heard great reviews with the Patriot brand. You can also find that in newegg for a lot cheaper than the corsair.

2) I opted for the T2400 than T2500 because performance vs price ratio does not match. I really like the T2400 and my friend that has a T2500 it is almost the same performance. Just make sure you have enough ram.

3) Yes it is worth it even if you do not plan to use it right now. You might want to upgrade and get surround sound speakers later or a good headset.

4) I have seen the skins in person and because it is free might as well get one right? As mentioned above it is a one time use. It is made like how a sticker is made and after putting it on you cannot remove it unless you want to just throw the skin away. It really is not to bad for middle or high schoolers and its a great way to distinguish your laptop to others. Again it is free so take it.
