computer wont boot

Hi. I'm new to this forum. I've got a problem with my Lifebook N6010. Recently when booting the display would not come on. I was forced to turn the notebook off and try again. Sometimes up to three times. Now it does not come on at all. The system lights come on and the fan is working - but the screen remains blank.

I noticed recently that when booting the Checking System Configuration box appeared.

Does anyone know how I might remedy this problem. I've some important data that has not been backed up. Oh no!

Please help

Thanks. No beep. Seems to be a hardware problem. Mainboard not initialising the display screen maybe? The Fujitsu support recommended unplugging the AC adaptor and removing the battery then holding down the start button for 30 sec. This should remove static build up on the board which sometimes apparently causes this issue. So there's a tip for you.

I've tried it and the screen returned to life on the first start up. Haven't tested again as busy backing up the data. Will keep you informed if this has worked over the long term.

Can I ask if your num lock, scroll lock, and caps lock all came on and remained on while you were having this problem? Also, did you try using an external monitor? I'm having a similar problem, and the lock icons are all on. The external monitor also did not work.

By the way, I also had no POST messages (beeps). I tried the static discharge thing, but it had no effect.

I was about to say try an external monitor but im glad to hear your notebooks posting again. Losing video sucks because then you have to rely on beep codes (if any) hopefully it's nothing to serious. I had the same problem a while back but I just ended up pulling the battery and letting the computer sit for a while then gave it another go... Video returned back to normal
