Aluminum cases and Wi-Fi

I have a question for all you mac people. My roommate just bought a shinny new macbook pro. He’s been a mac person for a while and this is his 3rd mac laptop. Anyway, it had a hard time keeping our wireless signal. He went to the Mac store to complain and they told him nothing was wrong with the computer and that these new ones with the metal cases just have problems because it interferes with the signal. I think that sounds like crap. What do you think?

The PowerBooks have always had weaker reception than the iBooks because of the aluminium cases. I don't really understand why, exactly, as the antannae are on the outside of the case, but  The Intel PowerBooks like your friend's, however, are supposed to have better reception than the older ones.

If his reception is bad in places where his previous laptops got good reception though, something sounds wrong.
