Could any of the nc8430 users try to connect their notebook to some external CRT monitor and try signal quality with resolution 1280x1024/100Hz or similar?
I've tried X1400 build in Lifebook E8210 and the quality was OK, but I'm not sure about X1600 in the nc8430.
