9860 won't recognize AC Adapter (even a new one!)

Anyone have this problem before? The machine was working perfectly, for over a year, then one day the thing switches to battery (even though it was plugged in). The charge light wasn't coming on, so I assumed the power adapter went dead. I ordered a new one from Sager and much to my surprise, that one didn't work either.

So it would seem that the machine no longer recognizes the AC adapter, and therefore cannot be charged or be run off of the AC.

Of course, the machine is now several months out of warranty, but even a mobo replacement will still be worth it since this is a fully decked out machine that's fully capable of running current-day applications and games without effort.

Before I send the beast in, I just thought I'd check to see if anyone else encountered a similar experience and what the outcome was.

Thanks!

Try running it without the battery and see if that makes a difference.

Also, try opening the lid (screen) only about 1 inch and see if that matters. If it does, then there might be a short/break in the small ribbon cable that connects the circuit to the lights, etc.. on the bottom of the screen.

I have a 9880 and had the exact same problem; about two months before warranty went out in my case. Bad mobo, had to send it to Sager (after calling and speaking w/them). Got it back and it has been okay since.
I have seen numerous posts in the past about this for the 9860/9880.
