I am ready to get a 1710, so I will sell my Gen 2, but I'm not sure what it is worth. It has:

2.0 Ghz proc
2 gigs Transcend ram
GeForce Go 6800
100 Gig 7200 rpm Hitachi HD
DVD burner

It is one year old, with no extended warranty coverage.

Thanks

1000-1200

How much would it be with 1 year next business day warranty?

I woule have to say that since it doesnt have a warranty, and its not the best gpu, you will get under $1000. Sorry

yeah you arou looking at around $1000.00, especially since you don't have a warranty. It is 2 generations old GPU wise (7800/7900)... That with the recent release of dual core & the new memron proc will continue to drive the price of your laptop down.

Gen 2 was a sweet laptop back in its day but unfortunetly new technology has way surpassed it. I noticed that today when I had to go back to my 6800 cuase I sent my 7900GTX into XFX. WOWWWsers what a difference, all laggy, and not nearly as smooth.

Maybe you can up the vid card and then unload for 1600 or or so.

Yeah, I sold my Gen 2 several months ago for around $1,200. And it had two gigs of ram, three-year warranty and go GTX.

The only reason why was because you could buy a comparable E1705 for around the same price.

Technology... it has no compassion for early adopters or die-hard enthusiasts.

Slightly off-topic, but can I ask why you are sending your graphics board out to 'XFX'? What IS 'XFX', lol? Are they upgrading/modding it for you or something?!?

XFX is a graphics card manufacturer.

did the gen2 come with a 6800 go option? I thought they all had ultras...anyway I still own mine nad have no intentions of letting it go(mostly becasue my wife would kick my a$$ if I bought new machine )

I am about to sell mine on eBay. I suspect I will get between $1200 - $1500. I have about 20 months of next day warrranty left. I always get an extended warranty even though I upgrade within a year or so because I believe it helps the resale value. Believe it or not I sold an i8600 for over $1500 on eBay last year. Starting price $1 - no reserve - bidders went crazy. It was in excellent condition, fully loaded, with lots of extras (including about 1.5 years of warranty remaining).

The above poster is definately right about extended warranties. It's funny because it definately seems to bump the price a lot higher than those without, actually giving more value back than what the warranty cost in the first place.

Thanks for all the positive input. I am living in Venezuela right now, and I want to sell the laptop here. When I get to LA next month, I will buy a 1710, or maybe try to wait for the XPS to get merom.

You are correct. All of the Gen2 notebooks that I know of came with a 6800 Ultra. And, I have to say, that it is still a great card.

That computer may be worth more in Venezuela than it is in the US...that could work in your favor.
