5400 is better for everyday tasks while 7200 is better for gaming and of course, everyday tasks.

Thanks. I figured I just get the 7200rpm so I wont regret not getting it. My 100 7200 rpm on my M170 has served me well. THanks for the reply.

Yeah I'd go with the 80gb 7.2k'er as well.

just get the 7200, unless u must have the extra 20gb. down the raod youll wish that youd gone the 7200, cause youll be buying one anyways.

Just so you know I was choosing from these two specs:

T2500 2Ghz 100gig5400rpm or T2400 1.83Ghz 80gig7200rpm. I ended up choosing the T2400 with 80gig. I hope I made the right choice. Not planning on upgrading to Merom either.

By the way how do you tell if the hdd is 5400rpm or 7200rpm without popping out the hdd. Maybe software?

Well i've been using this site http://www.systemrequirementslab.com/referrer/srtest
to see what specs are needed to run what games. Some games reccommend P4 3ghz.. According to this site the chip we have is rated at 2.7 Just a thought.. So far I haven't had any problems running games though..

Yes thanks for the link. i actually have used it and works very well. i never buy a game without using it first. Cool I'm thinking the 1.83 should be fine as well but its very tempting to get the t2500
