Dell EPP/FSS Customers: Save $283 off select Inspiron systems!
Free Printer
12% off systems priced $1600 and up with 3/4 yr At-Home service.
FINAL: $1730

Just for perspective. Same thing without using any outside coupons on epp site i tried a week ago i got the same system but with a truelife screen no color printer for $1450. Note this is NOT with any coupons but simply the system mail in rebate/coupons that they now say that they listened and arn't doing anymore -_-'''. Now with coupon I purchased that same system for $1250. Now we see the difference. Dell might as well just say... We listened to your pocket books and see you have more money so lets have a price hike but call it a nice name. This is suckering in the unknowing.

This probably means no more Dells for me. I bought an "inferior" system (in terms of looks and screen) in my E1505 because of price due to coupons. But if I just have to pay slightly more for a Sager or Asus than a Dell (now that they have fixed pricing) I'd do that in a heartbeat.

Thing is that most people probably didn't use coupons, etc. anyway so I don't know how much difference this will make to Dell's sales. Users on this forum aren't the typical purchasers.

in otherwords, dell kinda shuns the smart consumers ( iguess theres less of us) and goes after the type that does no research whatsoever on the things they plan on investing in... what is this world going to

That sucks..looks like the end of a great era...

Where was the announcement? Are online coupons considered the same as mail-in rebates?

znkor it was emailed to us and if you go to dell's site it says the same thing. You'll see that all promotions are gone. The only coupons they will have will be the more private ones and will come out less frequently and not be for as much money as before. Essentially Dell will be just like any other computer company. No discounts but maybe a free printer here or there.

Note this is simply my opinion on what will happen.

THOUGH.... we don't know how well this will pan out for dell. Will the average consumer take the bait and continue purchasing their products? Or will dell's sales start dropping. If sales drops, look foward to easier purchasing as they will lower their base prices more. I really doubt dell will go back to coupons again.

If Dell truly goes to "regular" pricing, they are going to lose even more customers. If I have to pay top dollar for a laptop, I'll go alienware instead just for the cool looks.

I think once they start to see a sharp drop in quarterly earnings, they might just change thier minds. I feel like they are really gonna shoot themselves in the foot with this move. Only time will tell though.

when they run a 36% off they sell thousands of computers....you tell me this $100 dollar off a 1700 dollar system is going to sell?? There are OTHER computer companies who give you 100 bucks off of $3500 and think thats a deal....are you kidding me?

If I knew this was coming I would have orderd an E1405 yesterday to have a backup for my 600m thats almost 3 years old and out of warranty.

I can't believe I'm saying this...or more so that its true, but your right. Dell thinks they can reverse time and start selling for a bigger profit. WHY are we going to buy Dell if its full price??

And this goes to show that contrary to some "hopefull" people who spent a lot on a computer, that Dell uses the SAME supply chains and has the SAME quality parts as any other company, they just had a business plan that was based on mass sales. Maybe the "mass" isn't so massive anymore, and its time to revert back to "regular" prices.

Well, those people are the majority of Dell's customers.

I don't think that Dell will lose any profit on this - when people go and get 40% or more off a laptop, Dell's probably losing money on that anyway. Preventing that person from buying Dell just means they lose less money.
