2 gigs ddr2 (sitting in my desk now)
120 gig 7200rpm hdd (sitting in my desK)
lightscribe
a/b/g bluetooth
normal battery
and camrera?
I tried to get the best before this one I wanted to get the dv8000z and I got one for my dad but then I fell in love with the dv600z.
What do you guys think about the fideo card thats my main problem everyone says it is low end well I can spend 200-300 for a video card if i can change it?? Also has anyone ever heard of a bigger 7200 rpm laptop hdd or do I have the best?

Read thru this thread to find out how video cards are rated..

Why for example a 6800 series Nvidia GPU (video card) would be faster than a 7200, 7400, or 7600
http://www.notebookforums.com/thread157799.html

PS: Don't think you can change the card in the dv6000, even if you could there is no card that would fit.

On the 7,200... the drive may not work, some Hp's using SATA drive, some reg ata.

wait so your saying that the 7200 is midrange or lowend? yea I have some problems with the bulkyness of my dads dv8000z. I probably will get the dv6000z awas wondering if the screen is a nice on the dv6000z?

Within the link to the thread I posted above is a write up on "how" the gpu numbering system works.

7200 being of the 7xxx series (7th generation).. the 200 within the part number refering to the family or class that card belongs to...

200
400
600
800
900

A card/gpu of the 900 class being the fastest..

Well, it looks like the above link has been deleted, info stripped out... Info that explained the GPU numbering system, class has been edited out. Was in the FIRST post within the thread...

just got my dv6000z yesterday. of course, the first thing I did is format and put on a clean copy of XP. unfortunately, I didn't realize the severe lack of drivers. I'm still looking for the expresscard driver. can somebody zip-up their SWsetup folder? I can host it on my website for download. send me a private PM if possible. Anyway, I got some of the generic drivers from tech support, but even the 7200 driver didn't work for video. I ended up using a modified INF file with the latest nvidia drivers from nvidia.com and it finally worked. Here are the links:

1. Network Drivers:

2. Video:

3. Audio Drivers:

4. Chipset Drivers:

Half of these didn't work. I would just get the latest chipset and video drivers directly from Nvidia and modify the INF file for video.

Finally, I am interested in installing the x64 edition of Windows. I saw on some forum where somebody had found enough drivers to make the system functional. Does anybody have a list of those drivers or has anybody gotten x64 to work well enough to use?

What is a "chipset driver"?

Ah I thought it was related to the video card for some reason. I assume these drivers are also in the SWSetup folder? But you said you deleted yours, correct?

Was anyone able to get a 64bit OS installed on their Dv6000z?

If yes, what about the drivers?

Thanks,
Ryan

To follow-up, I installed the Windows x64 on my dv6000z and got it working OK with video/chipset drivers from nVidia. I still had to get a hacked INF to get the video driver to work properly with the Go 7200 chipset. The only thing I couldn't find with the audio driver (Conexant HD). I tried Intel, Realtek, ATI's, any other driver I could find that was 64-compatible and none of them worked. The wireless and bluetooth drivers were found through Windows Update, but for some reason, the Broadcom driver only supported WEP and I couldn't use WPA/WPA2. I also didn't try to find the Ricoh drivers (5-in-1) or the modem (which is related to the Conexant chip, I think). If I had audio working with WPA, I would definitely be running it, but without audio, it's kind of useless.

BTW - I was able to find all of the necessary drivers for my system (regular 32-bit XP) except this weird "Coprocessor" device. I found a few references on google about it, but no solutions yet. It seems to have something to do with nVidia (from the vendor string), but I'm not sure if it's graphics or chipset related. Here is the PCI string:

PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_0271&SUBSYS_30B7103C&REV_A3\3&13C0B0C5&0&53

If anybody is able to look up that string with their config and possibly let me know what driver it is, I would really appreciate it. Or as I offered yesterday, if anybody has the SWSetup folder for the dv6000, I can host it.

Try this link, let me know if it works for you:

I tried every driver from that site and none of them worked (before or after the UAA hotfix listed there).

Hey I was wondering if the dv6000 uses sata os pata (paralel ata) hard drives and if you can put a 7200 rpm hdd on it?
I love the dv6000z but there is one thing that I HATA about it! Its the mouse click buttons you have to push them about a half an inch in to click. the dv8000z is much better it is just a click like on a mouse

dv6000z uses Serial ATA (SATA) with an nvidia 430/410 chipset. the drive is sata 1.5 (not 3gbps), and the built-in windows speed test had a burst of 90MB/s and a sustained of 40MB/s

Anyone know where I can find the gigabit ethernet drivers for the DV6000NR? Made the mistake of formating with out the recovery disc. Can't find that driver anywhere.

get the chipset drivers from nvidia, they are included (mcp410/430)
