spengo: the reason why HDR is disabled in Oblivion is that it is based on shader 3.0. instead of shader 2.0. (e.g. like CSS or BF2). And you probably know that the X700 only supports shader 2.0.!
Oh that makes sense. I forgot about that.

By the way, I just read on driverheaven that Omegadriver is doing some final touches on the omegadrivers based on 6.7. and it should be out soon.

Good news!
Are omega drivers better than using a mod program to modify regular desktop catalyst to work on laptops like I did? 'Cause I used this program to get catalyst on me compy.

So, with the above said, what are the most current x700 drivers useable on a Asus z70va?

spengo: I don't think that there is noticeable difference in performance between the official and the omega drivers. I use the omegas, because of the custom resultions it has and it also uses the ati control panel instead of CCC.

bveld,

But even if you set your resolution to whatever you prefer, doesn't the game set it to what it wants? I have always been under the impression that if a game doesn't support widescreen, then you're stuck playing in standard or stretched modes?

Yes, if the game doesn't support widescreen at all then it will be streched no matter which driver you use.

But all the games I play (and future releases as well) support widescreen, but they will only have the resolutions, which you have under widows display settings.

Omega drivers give extra custom resolutions to the windows display settings, therefore those new resolutions will appear in the game options as well. Does this make sense?

Perfect sense. You learn something new every day.

Got this one covered for you. My Ferrari 4005 plays this on 1280 x 800. You have to create a new BF2 shortcut like so: C:\\Program Files\\EA GAMES\\Battlefield 2\\BF2.exe +menu 1 +widescreen 1 +szx 1280 +szy 800 works a charm. And you can bump the settings up a litle bit now that your GPU isn't working to stretch the image onto your screen. Just a bit mind.
