anyone know a way to prvent my laptops screen brightness from going down when im on battery power?

some ppl find it helpful to unplug your battery when not in use, and put it in the conventional oven @ 325 degrees f for 3 hours. this seems to invigorate the battery and provide a much higher screen contrast ratio.

umm stoopid..

Julie I think it depends on your computer, in mine I just crank it back up when I go on battery. on my dads toshiba theres a utility that lets you set it to diferent profiles and its one of the options.

Other than that I have no idea.

mines a alienware 766 if that helps at all. it dims enough to be annoying and id like the vivid screen when im on battery

I'm not familiar with Alienware bios' but some laptops have pre-sets in the bios for screen brightness on and off battery. Otherwise just turn it back up yourself.

Is that a joke? Putting the battery on the oven?

of course it's a joke.

Thanks! I'm not always the brightest bulb inthe marquee. No pun intended.

I have the same issue with my Toshiba ga-25 av513. LOVE the screen on power but hate it when it's on battery.

I wonder is this is a probelm with all notebooks? Pull the power and loose brightness?
Its not a problem, its a battery saving measure.

It's a problem if you want a constant output of light regardless of power supply. Do all of them do this?
Yes, by default. But it's easy enough to change in the BIOS of most models.

lol. no prob.

Most of the times when you unplug a laptop the screen dims and a little battery signe appears in the bottom right of the taskbar. If you rightclick that battery and select "adjust power properties" you can then control all on-battery and on-power settings, including how long it waits to sleep, how long it waits to shutdown, and of course if the light should dim when the comp is unplugged.

not on the toshiba, no matter what I do, in the bios or in the taskbar, it goes dimmer than on AC.
