Get my new E1505 monday

I get my new e1505 with the wxga screen to replace the e1505 with the wsxga+ screen which I am typing on now. I've had it about a week and the fonts and text is just too dam small, even with 120 dpi and other stuff inlarged. Went to the store and saw a 15.4 widescreen running wxga and that was perfect for me. I have to struggle to see things on this wsxga+ screen most of the time. Everything else was perfect about the system. When I got my RMA number they asked me if I knew anyone that wanted to buy this laptop, and if so they would give me $150 off. I just couldn't figure out if they ment $150 off this laptop or my new one which is coming. Oh well I'll see it monday...

You didn't return it? Dell even wavied the restocking fee for me. So I just returned the wsxga+ one for the wxga at no charge. You should try and do the same. Like I said I wanted to make sure first if wxga would be better so I went to fry's and checked out some laptops using the truelife type screens and wxga. What a difference to me, I could see it as clear as day, much much better than the wsxga screen.

Same setup as you, except I got the standard 1.6 core duo. I'm not going to play any games on this so 1.6 is pletty.

Man looking at my swxga+ screen with everything set to normal fonts and stuff I can't see crap. I have my face almost next to the screen and I still have to focus really hard to see everything. I can't wait to get the wxga screen tommorrow. Then I wouldn't have to strain to see everything. Not to mention I tried to play Bf2 at the lowest setting and the native resolution and it ran like a total slide show. If I put it at 1280x768 which is almost what the wxga screen is, it was perfectly playable at that resolution.

I swear the ppl using this screen are blind sometimes! lol

I absolutely love this screen, have it set to 120dpi, it's perfect, maybe you guys are just too old...

Yeah I know I could use that, but I don't want to use it for everything from the control panel to web browsing. I want to look at the screen from a distance and be able to see it without any special programs or fonts and icons set to extra large. And it figures I called in sick to work today so I could mess with the new screen and compare it with the old one, normally ups is here by like noon pacific time. And now its 3 pm and still no laptop damit. I could have gone to work anyway. I get off at 330 pm :-( That was a wasted sick day..

Just got the new laptop :-) The Wxga screen is alot better for me :-) I can see clearly now without a problem at almost any distance. Dell sure does put alot of bloatware on these laptops. It takes forever to boot and get a working desktop. Its got about 15 icons sitting on the taskbar. I'm formatting now :-) I'm going to do a nice clean install.

I was joking about using Magnifier, dude.

You have to format your hard drive to do it. Did you get the full version of windows xp with your laptop or just the restore disk? You need the full version. If you look in the "General Dell" section here at notebookforums their is a guide on how to format and do what I did. Let me know if you find it and how it goes.

I really wanted the 1680 x 1050 screen, but in the end went for the normal 1280 x 800 screen. I'm starting to regret it, and it's only just been shipped!

I've seen a lot of notebooks with the high res screens, but that's close up in the shops. I'm thinking falcon26 is right.

Completely agree about Dell's pre-loaded stuff. Make sure you've got all the drivers from the Dell site burnt to CD then go for a clean install of XP. Although I did that on a Dell Dimension and no matter what I try the screen still isn't working at as many colours as it did out the box...

Are you getting the X1400 or the 7300?
(If you mean me ...) I think it's the X1400.

I'm no buff when it comes to graphics cards and would have gone for the lowest option / 128MB had it not been an outlet purchase...

i just ordered mine, like ....20 minutes ago.
best damn service ive ever experienced buying anything period.
i got the sxga high res, cuz i will be using a lot of photoshop and videoediting, as well as gaming..... ive read the 1400 is better than the 7300 and dell has it for 30 less then the 7300, so i asked the guys, and they recommended me the same as well. i must be extremely lucky, cuz the girl i was talking to gave me a 4 yr premium solution for only $75, including 4yr onsite, 4yr accident damage, 30 day oncall and many other features, including nights and weekends, and we all know dell has the best customer service in the industry, also, when i travel to italy in january, and if i break my lappy by "accidentally" dropping it down the hotel stairs, theyll either send me a new one with the technology at that time, or THEYLL SEND SOMEONE IN ITALY TO FIX IT!!!!!! sweet!!!.
my set up was 1459,
T2400
80 Gig 5400
1 gig 533
256 mb x1400 hypermem
wsxga+ high res glossy screen
Integrated sound blaster audigy high def sound
and 4yr premium plus warranty
as well as 8x +/- DVDRW

buy dell, theyre the shiznit!!!

Meh, I guess I'm a youngin'. At 18 years old, I love the 1680x1050 with REGULAR font sizes. I'm sure there will come a time though when I can appreciate slightly bigger sizes.
Ya these old guys with poor eyesight are giving the wsxga+ screen a bad name. I have it set to 120dpi, and it is too big, they must be blind...

do u play half life2? m1210 was much better. The first time it said loading going into another phase and froze then later when I tried again after restarting and changing my screen resolution to half it just shut down and I was asked if I wanted to send error message to microsoft.. I declined...
