Gateway 7330 Ethernet Controller

Thread Starter
I recently purchased a refurbished Gateway notebook:
http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applicatio...ku=G153-7330GZ

Everything is fine, except for the Ethernet Controller. I've attempted to hook it to my router with a cable (cable functions on other computers, so it's not that) but it won't allow me to create a network, or join my existing one. After I complete the wizard, it merely closes and accomplishes nothing.

I checked Device Manager, and under Ethernet Controller there is a large yellow ? with an ! over top of it. I've gotten the new drivers from Gateway, copied them to a CD and installed them on my laptop. I then Updated Drivers for the Ethernet Controller, but it could not find the required drivers.

Any help?

Here's one idea. Make sure ethernet is enabled in the bios (press F2 while notebook is booting).

Also, it is possible that Gateway posted the wrong driver. The drivers for my notebook that Gateway posted were for an entire series (MX6400 series) and were totally worthless. You may need to get some that work from another owner of your model.

The file you are looking for is imbedded in the 7330gz Gateway driver download "Gateway Lan Driver" from the Gateway driver support site. What I had to do was run this file thru a unzip file, get to the file labeled drivers, open it and select the "XP" portion and put it in a separate file. I then took the yellow question marked file in the device manager and removed the existing driver for the ethernet controller, turned off the computer, restarted it, and when the ethernet controller came up and I was asked for the location of the ethernet controller driver, I directed the manager to the file I loaded for the "XP" driver file.  And Bingo.................. the ethernet controller loaded perfectly! Hope this solution works for you also. Gateway, and other comp manufactures just do not make it easy!
