Uninstalling or disabling wireless connection

Thread Starter
I know this might sound stupid, but I ordered my laptop with the Intel wireless card, and I shouldn't have. I don't want a wireless connection here in my home so I have been trying to disable it or uninstall it but I can't figure out how to do it. I called Dell and they told me if I pay the money I can talk to a technician but I don't want to pay 100 dollars for one question, so I am posting here because I have used this site before and I have gotten a lot of good feedback. Any tips or ways to disable the wireless connection FOR GOOD?

Right-click on My Network Places -> select: Properties

Right-click on the icon for the wireless network connection -> select: Disable

If it says: Enable then it is already disabled.

If this is not enough, then you can open the door on the bottom of the notebook that holds the wireless card and physically remove it. Here is the link to the on-line manuals.

Fn+F2 hardware disables your WiFi card. Fn is located next to your windows key.

You could go one step further and remove the wireless card from the notebook. I did this with my fax/modem because I will never ever ever use this "feature" and it will always suck a trickle amount of power.

If I'm in an area with no WiFi, I'll use my cell phone's bluetooth to hook into the verizon broadband wireless network.

And if I need to send a fax, I'll use a fax machine.

The wireless card is located below the keyboard on the right side around the hardrive area. it is simple to remove. couple screws and a couple plugs.

The modem is located in the memory access area beneath the notebook. one screw and one plug and that worthless thing is gone.
