Dell Windows XP pro reinstall CD

I have an old broken Dell laptop with the Dell Windows XP reinstall CD. Can I install Windows XP from this disk on a not Dell laptop? Thanks

I would like to know ahead so I don't have to buy/wait on a copy of XP before I can use a new laptop without an operating system. There is also the $ issue!

Yes, it will work. A Dell's a Dell. Never heard of it not working.

Read the first post again.

The Dell Reinstallation CD is keyed to the BIOS in Dell PCs. It is why you can reformat and reload the OS on any Dell without needing to enter the Product Key.

It won't work on non-Dell PCs

It should work fine on a non-Dell laptop. In the off-chance that it doesn't: "Acquire" a regular Windows XP Pro CD. All you have to do is use the code from your Dell computer on it, and everything will go fine.

Thank to all. It is an "XP1" version but I updated it to "XP2" and burned it again. I did this for another old laptop from dell when the hard drive died and did a reinstall and noted 1) I did have to put in the product code key with the burned copy and 2) all reference to Dell was gone with the burned coy, but it did work. Sooo, I figured this would to, but I was wondering what it was 'keyed' to. Thanks again.

I have as well.
I have 2 Dell XP Pro CD's at home with their corresponding COA's and they work fine for installing on non-dell desktops
