How do you know that it's available on monday?

Care to share a link? I haven't been able to find any info on availability. In fact, an HP rep told me this week that HP never tells them when new products are released, when I asked about the dv9000z.

Actually a supervisor told me a few weeks ago it would be released on 8/7 and he double checked his paper work. However I had to call today to ask a question about something (an accessory) and I happened to mention the DV9000Z to the rep and he told me "yeah I wish September would get here quicker then it is!" I'm like huh?

He said that is when it's being released. I told him that I was told by a supervisor a few weeks ago that it was 8/7, which surprised him. He put me on hold and then came back and said no, it will not be until September. So I'm really bumbed now!

I think what I'm going to do is wait until Monday, if it's not released I'm just getting the DV6000Z and I'm gonna be done with it!

Personally, I really don't want a 17" notebook (especially with the keypad being off centered because of the number keypad as well as the mouse being off centered as well.) But I was going to go with it because it had the HDMI output and a higher resolution screen option. But I can live without HDMI and higher screen resolutions.

I guess things happen for a reason I'm not a gamer, so the graphics card will due just fine, it is Vista premium so it's all good.

Sorry I got everyone all excited but I was only going on what I was told a few weeks ago by the supervisor. It's quite possible what he told me was true THEN, but I guess HP has pushed it back farther.

i've been looking for a laptop also, and while I think the dv8000t is PERFECT for me, I learned of Merom and now i'm waiting.

it's nice to know that I can at least know that it might come out soon!

will the z be another AMD processor, or is that the laptop that will have Merom? or maybe the dv9000t will come out at the same time with Merom? I'm dying to know, I want my laptop soooooooo bad and i've got the money all lined up so the moment that Merom comes out in a dv8000t-variant, i'm grabbing it!
EDIT: the dv9000z will have the AMD Turion 64 X2 processor. dv9000t will have Merom, but it's coming out later this month or early next month... HP's site has one place that mentions both the dv9000t and dv9000z, and it's a rebate or coupon or something (it says it is valid for those laptops) so at least we know for sure that they DO exist, and I'm sure the z is coming out monday, but i'm DEFINITELY waiting for the dv9000t.

if it doesn't come out soon, i'm going to explode or go crazy!

Okay, uh.... it's Monday, and look at that - no dv9000.
So now we continue waiting. Ugh.

Even though I'm not actually buying the dv9000z, I'm looking forward to seeing the options that come with it. I can look forward to better options in the dv9000t that I'm buying

If you read above you will notice where I posted that HP has pushed it back...AGAIN! You don't need to wait for it to be released to know the options. It's already posted on their site as to what the options are.

OK, I called HP earlier today;

I was told that the dv9000 has been delayed due to technical reasons. As I pressed further, I was able to get the sales rep to ask a supervisor. And the response is that HP is still trying to integrate certain consumer level features into the final specs of certain configurations that will be available with the dv9000z at release, including the HDMI port.

Yeah and you think they would have done this with the DV6000Z instead of releasing it out weeks ago! The computer is suppose to have a HDMI port as well but they went ahead and released it without the port for now which I don't think is right. All the people who have already bought a DV6000Z didn't get the option to configure or buy their system with this port. I wouldn't have even known about it if it wern't for "wearenotalone" pointing it out to me in the DV6000Z's manual online, not to mention the port is shown in the 3d product tour but I never noticed it there either because the tour completely skips over the port in the tour...(the port is there but it's never 'pointed out' so if you are not looking closely you won't even see it. Personally, I think that's pretty messed up!

I don't really care about the port myself because I never connect my notebook to any external monitor, display, etc so it's not like I would ever use it although it would still be nice to have it just for show off purposes to the friends:P

I wonder though, what do you guys think adding the HDMI port to your customized notebook is going to cost? I'm going to say $150.00 (it's not a cheap option.)

Ok... From a new release I read from Nividia a few weeks ago on the 7600 series Nivida GPU the "code" is already embedded within the chip... all that is needed is the module /chip to insert a HDCP signal into the data stream to make it HDMI.

DVI+HDCP=HDMI
What is HDCP?
HDCP stands for High-Bandwidth Digital Content Protection, a copy protection scheme to eliminate the possibility of intercepting digital data midstream between the source to the display.

Why is it important to me?

Although manufacturers are still making most products with at least component HD output, new generation of products like HD-DVD and Blu-Ray devices will limit the analog output resolution (Analog defined as Component or RGBHV). The highest resolutions these devices can output (720p/1080i/1080p) will be available on via the digital (DVI or HDMI) connections that employ HDCP encryption. Any new HDTV purchase should have a digital HDCP compatible input.
It is important to note that HDCP is currently not a standard used in PC monitors, and almost none of these displays have Component inputs. Although PC monitors are HDTV capable, HDCP encryption limits this type of use. If you use an HTPC and want to ensure dual use of your new flat panel display, look for HDCP compatibility.

How does it work?
A simple answer is that an HDCP session will result in the exchange of keys between the source and display device. The source device will query the display to make sure that the equipment is HDCP compliant before video is shown. Non-HDCP devices such as PC's and older model DVI products will work with any DVI compliant display, but the HDCP compliant boxes will show an image only on HDCP compliant display.
Other products affected by HDCP are scalers, switchers, and splitters (distribution amps). While these devices do no authentication for key exchange, they must be able to transmit the presence of HDCP if the video is handled (processed) in any way. Due to the two different formats of digital connections, occasional inability for proper communications may result in loss of interoperability. The newer format, HDMI was designed to be backwards compatible with DVI and in most instances, the two signal types are easily adaptable, but older devices may not always work well with in-line devices like scalers or switchers. These problems can sometimes be fixed in "firmware' although that is not always the case. Incompatibility is often displays on-screen as a snowy image or an error message.

I'm waiting for the dv9000t. It should be out around the end of this month or the beginning of September. I would much rather get a Core 2 Duo than a Turion 64 X2...
what are the main differences between the 8000 and 9000?
New case style, better processors, HDMI port. (might be more differences)
Less hard drive choices (no 7200rpm - yet), slightly more expensive

Not really sure about the z side of things, but the 8000t has core duo, and the 9000t will have core 2 duo (codename Merom). Core 2 is faster, more efficient, and uses less battery power, not to mention it's 64-bit (core duo is 32-bit). That reason alone is reason enough for me to be waiting...
Everything Ricky said is correct except that the dv9000t will definitely have the Core 2 Duo processors available at launch. While I would say the inclusion of Core 2 Duo is a safe and logical assumption, HP has yet to make any official announcement regarding this. So while there’s a good chance that the dv9000t will release with the Core 2 Duo, no one can say it will with 100% certainity.
Well, it's pretty much 98% certainty... HP already has plenty of Core Duo laptops, plus why would they wait til after the Core 2 launch to release another laptop that is outdated at release? lol.

So the only logical conclusion is that the laptop will be Core 2 Duo...And if it's not, I'll be mad

Here’s what we know: Right now consumers have no idea when Core 2 Duo (Merom) will be launched, keep in mind that Core 2 Duo (Merom) has been announced not launched, the consensus guess seems to be the end August or the beginning of September. I am pretty sure that the Core 2 Duo processor is going to be using the same motherboard at the Core Duo, right?

So what if the dv9000t comes out in the next two weeks before Core 2 Duo (Merom) is released? Are they going to ship them without processors or are they going to put in Core Duos? What if HP decides to allocate their first several shipments of Core 2 Duo (Merom) to their business line limiting Core 2 Duo availability to the consumer line for awhile?

I am just saying that since there isn’t any official information about the dv9000t it may be a bit premature to say the specs will definitely be this or that. I do agree with you that eventually the dv9000t will have Core 2 Duo, but I can’t say for certain that it will have Merom on the first day the dv9000t is available for sale, but I hope it does, because every night I have to spend staring at Excel on the 14” display of my current notebook, drives me once step closer to insanity.

Is anyone else concerned that the dv9000t may not be released for awhile? HP released information about the dv9000z about 5 or 6 weeks before it became available, if they follow that same pattern for the dv9000t it won’t be available until the end of September if HP announces it this week. On the plus side though every week that they delay announcing the dv9000t adds to the chance it will be available with Core 2 Duo.
Well I think that HP is probably delaying until the Core 2 Duo comes out, and while it's likely that the dv9000t will have the option of a lower processor - Core Duo or Core Solo - I think the Core 2 Duo will be the majority of the processor selections. I mean, they already have every other piece of hardware - the dv9000z seems to be the design that will be used in the dv9000t - so why else would they delay its release? It's all planned out, and if they had the processor then they would go ahead and release it.

No, I think they have already released enough Core Duo notebooks and I really think this will be the first of their Core 2 Duo notebooks. However I'm not concerned that it won't be released for a while. I think you have it changed around; the business class are usually the more stable computers, and as such they wait until things have been released and declared 100% bug-free until they put it in a business class. This is so that the business people don't lose their data from crashes and stuff, I guess. Of course, maybe I've got it all wrong but I did some research recently because I didn't know the difference, and that's what I found out.

So anyway, I plan on checking HP.com every day (as I have been) and as soon as the dv9000t comes out, I'll get it.

They might release it with the option to choose either chip, since only a bios update is needed for the Core Duo 2. I would think that it wouldn't be that hard to use (1) bios , bios auto-detects cpu and customer spec's out which chip he/she wants.
