HOLYYY $18k graphics card coming out - Page 2

it's just plain wrong when a video card alone costs more than 18 times what my car cost.

That monstrosity was probably created just for Disney Pixar and Industrial Light and Magic Seeing as how that's the only two companies that would pay that kinda money for such a device.

I never thought I'd make that choice (again).

my 02 mercedes didn't cost that much.

That should be the standard. Graphic card progress advances are to slow. I just went from an x800 to a 7900 gtx, and there a fairly big difference in gaming, but Im not doing back flips over it.

what exactly would a card like that be used for? I cant even fathom it. Like 3d rendered space simulation asteroid rocket lunch laser beams?

i cant image you could build anything in the computer industry to last 10 years. will anything made in 1996 still play Doom 3 today?
That would be such a waste of money.

It's cool to see super-expensive workstation hardware again. Reminds me of the SGI days. Who didn't want one of those sweet workstations in the 90s, and they were only $32,000! Now the same machine (SGI Iris Indigo) can be had for $5+shipping on ebay. amazing.

It's cool that finally, there is some hardware worth drooling over again.

Also, if this catches on, it seems like the future is 12-megapixel HD TV and movies!

P.S. $18,000 is the BASE price! The more expensive one is almost $25,000!

Huh?

In case you haven't noticed, this is not a graphics card, let alone a laptop card.
