M7700 Audio Driver problem. Microsoft Bus Driver Error

Hi Everyone...
I just received my Area-51 M7700 and have been learning quite about this laptop. Today, I reloaded Win XP and now when I try to install the Audio driver...I get an error message saying " Please make sure Microsoft Bus Driver is installed prior to installing the audio driver".

Has anyone encounter this before?
Is there a fix around this?
I know the audio works because it worked prior to the reformat. I had already installed the chipset drivers first and still get the message. Thanks ahead to all you alien heads that assist.

How'd you get around the RAID driver problem? (I saw your other post) Have you done Windows Update to auto-load drivers? Other than that, check AW's site for the most recent chipset drivers.

Hi...
I got around the RAID problem by creating a Win XP CD with the SATA drivers intergrated into the XP install cabs so there's no need for a USB floppy and windows will recognize the RAID controller.

Haven't done all the windows updates.
I'll do that......let you know my progress later today. Still no sound.

I've done all the updates.
Still can't install the audio drivers due to the Microsoft Bus Driver message.
Anyone have any ideas?

Check Event viewer for errors. You might be able to trace it back to another driver and then be able to reinstall that one.
Event Viewer --> Start > Run > type Control Panel hit Enter > Administrative Tools > Event Viewer > Check System and Application for errors.

Sorry for a 3rd post, but check Device Manager [Control Panel > System > hardware > device manager] to see if there are any yellow exclamation points. If one of them is the onboard audio, try to load the driver for it yourself.

Thankx...

Just updated a PCI icon in the device manager that had an exclamation next to it with
the audio drivers and it took the update. I have sound..wooohooo...thanks for pointing the way.
Just finished playing a round of BF2 and I'm happy with sound and video performance.
