9860 and DVI LCD= no Battlefield 2

I have a 9860 with a 6800go (maybe a GTgo). It has a DVI out, and I just bought a viewsonic VA1912wb monitor to hook up to it. It works great for everything (so far) except Battlefield 2. I've tried it in clone mode (both monitors on) and disabling the 9860's monitor, but when I launch the game, before the EA logo comes up, it dumps back to windows. If I switch back to the 9860's monitor, it loads fine. Does anybody have any ideas why? Other games, like Half Life2, load and play fine.

thanks,

thanks, I'll post it there. I was wondering where the game section went. Last time I was here, I don't think it was called "stafe right"....it's been a while

start bf2 with your 9860 monitor and set the game resolution to something safe like 1024x768 and that should work with your monitor. then lanuch the game with the lcd monitor at that resolution and then start changing the games resolution from there.

you are trying to start bf2 with a resolution that is not supported by your monitor and thats why the game will not work.

Argh, you were right on the money. Thanks for the tip. It never occured to me that the VERTICAL res would be to high, and I new what the horizontal was set to. Anyway, thanks much, it works now, and I can see that it doesn't really look very good on this monitor. Just not enough contrast. Oh well, it was worth a try.

thanks,
