1 Month Update

The laptop is running better today than when i first got it. i've tweaked the thing to death and now have 13 processses running at start up. the thign absolutely flies. i've also installed dropline gnome as a xwindows client for linux...

its pretty cool, windows are transperant so you cans ee the desktop backround throught he window!

i will get pics of this later.

ive recently purchased gangland and UT2004. both play perfect. i needed to get the ati patchf or gangland, after id id it worked fine. you can get it right off their website. playing both maxed out.

ive been doing a ton of recording with the WinTv-PVR lately. great quality... perfec for taping nba or baseball games since i work nights.

3 hours = 14GB. not too bad. you can get an hour show in perfect mpeg2 compression on a dvd. i've been able to fit 3 chapelle show epiisodes on 1 dvd after taking out the commercials. i can get 1 sopranos show per dvd but what are you gonna do? i cant handle less than perfect quality.

Dual Boot Set-up:
After getting over the initial feeling of having the laptop arrive it was time to set the puppy up... i dual booted it with linux(slackware) and xp pro... since you cant have the second hard drive and cd drive in at the same time this got kind fo tricky... i had to boot from the network and download the slackware files to a small windows partition on the 2nd HDD. i then mounted that and installed linux onto the 2nd hdd from a drive on that same hdd! and
Can't you just down load and save Linux on an external drive. I thought it is possible to use the battery bay for a second HDD.
Also why not partition one HDD for 2 OS.
Thanks

Why not write a do it yourself tweaking manual for us newbee's, that would be cool.
Thanks
